"I'm thinking of getting a job, Suna-San."

Shouyou attempted to flip his omelet in the air and catch it with the pan. He failed but caught it after stumbling to catch it again before it hit the ground.

Suna laughed at him, Shouyou looked up unimpressed at the screen.

"Why is that?"

Shouyou placed the pan back on the stovetop and sat on the counter in front of his phone as he sharpened a knife for cutting the vegetables.

"I don't really have a way to pass the time. Plus, it'll make me feel responsible."

"And where are you planning on getting a job?"

"There's a cafe I saw yesterday that's hiring cashiers and waiters. I've got plenty of experience under my belt, so I don't think it'll be hard to snag the position."

Suna nodded and continued buttoning his shirt. His phone was propped up on his nightstand, and, might Shouyou just comment, his room's bigger than the little ginger's whole apartment.

"If that's what you want, then you should do it. It'll be good, and I like seeing you happy. Just don't overwork yourself. Remember, you have me, now, you don't need to push yourself."

Shouyou jumped off the counter and began chopping the vegetables. "Yes, yes, thank you, Suna-San." For a moment, Shouyou went silent, Suna looked over at the screen in confusion.

"No, really..."

Shouyou didn't glance at his phone, he only continued slowly chopping a tomato with a calm, content expression.

"Thank you, Suna-San. You've really helped me out of a bad spot."

Fuck, Shouyou, just marry me right now, please.

three weeks later

Shouyou loves his new job. His coworkers are sweethearts, the customers are pretty much all regulars, and they tip well.

Since Shouyou's earning a rather swell first income, though, he donates his tips to Yachi, a student struggling to pay for her college debts.

It's rather easy for him to slip his tips into hers, and she's been a lot happier as of late, even Shouyou could tell, and he's only been here for two weeks.

He didn't know that the boss knew, though, but she remained silent and smiled when she caught glimpses of Shouyou doing it.

"Shouyou, run the register for a bit, Yachi needs a hand in the kitchen."
