Fortune jumps out even in tragedy. It was true for many cases including one of the Potters.I got to where I tell my tale today ,when I was still young, only a couple centuries old, not having known the mortal trick of time my days slipped like water from a cascade, spent at my aunts feet in gossip.I smiled politely and bit my tongue, but it was only at night I felt at home. When the woods were silent except for the hoots of owls and rustling of foxes and the sky was starry with legends I drew with a finger did I come out from the shadows.
The strong breeze that wove through the thicket ruffled my hair, white as lily petals in the reflection of the pool,my eyes were like pale green crystals as I observed the fish going about their days, they were too simple to understand it but their pond was the finest of nymph art with perfect stones and crystal waters.
As I gazed into the depths, I heard the slightest of a rustle and saw a stranger behind me.She stood as a warrior, in unscathed glory, taking off her helm and letting free her unruly black hair.I saw the splotches of scarlet glimmer in moonlight, there were few female soldiers at that time, and so my intrigue brought me to voice my curiosity.
'You walk as a shadow and shine in the glory of war, might I trouble you for an origin?'
She met my eyes in the reflection
'I was born from my father Zeus, and my mother Metis, I am Athena goddess of wisdom, and you nymph?'
I was struck my surprise but then boldly turned around and brave to face such an olympian of power, I met her gray eyes, a perfect imitation of stormy skies.I did not fear her, you might think it naive, but I knew what she could do, but I also was sure in having no malice or intention that might offended her.
'Decima' I said.
'The tenth'. she noted.
I nodded. 'Tenth of Drusilla, and offspring of Hermes'
'My brother, the trickster, you have his sharpness'
That was how she came to talk to me most nights.Later that year, when winter bliss sprinkled the forest, she came with an extra spear. I need a partner, would you not assist me?
When the celestial bronze had met my hand, pure instinct took place. I was quick, the daughter of the god of travellers, but Athena was better still.Time had flown in all our fun, and before long the sun crept up and was setting the fading darkness ablaze.
A year later, and another, she asked me to attend a meeting with her during the summer solstice. I was curious ,having never left that neck of the woods and agreed.
During the evening where we agreed to meet by the giant boulder a bolt of lightning struck our forest and from the blinding light revealed Athena standing in her best armor.
'You look ready' she said.I smiled as I had considered myself at the pond, and found the pale green chiton very pretty.
'Thank you' I said as I took her arm and we were teleported to mount Olympus.I first felt light headed at how high it stood, but my breath was nothing less than short anyways ,taken away by the gilded glory of the city. Athena took me on a tour, showing architectural masterpieces, gardens that even dryads could stare in awe and broad roads.
Lastly she brought me to the throne room's threshold, a heavy door of ornate marble carved with each glory of the gods.
Athena smiled and delighted me in how each crevice came to be, Then the stars shone and the goddess of the moon, Selene drew her chariot with winged, silver horses over the heavens.Athena invited me in, and I was bathed in light as we entered the gathering, great thrones stood around the hearth attended by Hestia, with eyes the colour of a home fire.
