l shifted from my position and wore my pyjamas .This has been my routine for the past week
come back from school
change into my pyjamas
stay in the room like the loner you are :
thats what l do all day
When dinner time arrives l get out my room and make my way downstairs with the smell of roasted chicken welcoming me . l get to the cupboard , take out the plates and put them on the table .Mom dishes the food and then the whole family comes down and people eat in silence until l decide to break it
l wriggle on the chair ' Dad , Mom . What are you two hiding from me '
Mom clears her throat and opens her mouth as if to say something then later on dad decides to speak ' You are not my daughter '
for a minute there l thought l heard wrong , did dad just say' l m not his daughter '
' What do you mean dad ' l ask with shivers down my spine
'Exactly that ,you are not my daughter' He continue . l swear those words cut through me like a sword . l got up and my mother pulled me back down
'Gotta ' dad says and the whole table is filled with laughter 'l am just joking Anail ... dont you get it ? '
what kind of a joke is that
'No l dont get it dad , you cant joke around like that ' l squirm ' how could you joke like that ? '
'Baby daddy was just joking ' Mom says in tears of laughter 'Dont take it seriously ,you know your dad ' she points out
'Yea and there is no way Anail you are not dads daughter , you two look soo alike . You are basically dads female version' Josh my lil bro says and l hate to admit He is telling the truth . l look like my dad , talk like my dad infact everything l do like my dad
'Yea l guese , l overreacted ' l say in a low tone
'Sorry my darling if l joked in the wrong manner ' dad apologises
'ok is everyone done ' mom asks and chuckles all of us nod and she says 'lets finish our food '
We continue eating and dad tells his jokes and his funny stories .Josh decides to pitch in with how his exam went and my apologies . l couldnt help but laugh and everyone follows , He starts aiming his peas at us and all We do is duck .We all continue laughing and a food fight erupts . Dad picks me up and uses me as a shield , l end up getting covered in mashed potatoes and We decide to stop
'Ok thats it for tonight my lovey doveys ' mom says wiping Joshs mouth ' let us all get cleaned up and head straight for bed '
We get cleaned up and one by one We each give our parents a kiss on the cheek
'Goodnight ' l mumble as l kiss both my parents
What a wonderful family We are . l hope and pray We stay happy
