Dwayne Hoover- little miss sunshine

Chapter one

I sit next to Dwayne on the bus playing tic-tac-toe on his notepad. It was the last day of school so kids on the bus were getting hyped. The bus came to the stop and me and Dwayne got off. Olive walked in front of us as me I walked and Dwayne wrote. Dwayne had taken A vow of silence for almost 9 months now because he wants to become a pilot in the Air Force. I hated it at first but I have gotten use to it. I talk about what I want to do this summer and Dwayne listens.

"Are you doing anything fun this summer?" I asked and he shakes his head no in response. "Can I come over for dinner tonight, of course if your mom lets me," I said know that she always says yes to me. My parents were both working, Dad at a meeting in Texas and Mom working overtime so I normally came over to hang out with Dwayne. Our moms had been friends in high school and collage and some how became neighbors right next to each other.

We walked in a comfortable silence as Olive skipped ahead. We get to my house were me and Dwayne part ways, I say bye and before I go in I make a heart with my hand to him as he does the same to me. That was our way of saying goodbye to each other after school so we always do it now. I turn and unlock the door walking into the cool home. This was going to be a good summer.
