Berryfrost's eyes flickered with satisfaction at seeing Snaketooth's shocked and terrified face. Holly looked at him with horror as well. The Gloomclan warriors settled behind him, getting ready to spring. "Berryfrost!" Snaketooth managed to gasp, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm getting even. You're a filthy murderer, and you're bad news for everyone." He responded simply. "Now, Gloomclan..." He flicked the tip of his tail, "Go get them." Almost immediately the warriors leapt at the rogues, blood splattering on the grass. Holly and Ghost followed him onto a ledge, where he sat and watched the cats fight.

"What are you doing?" Holly croaked.

"Letting them fight." Berryfrost blinked. He was a medicine cat. He couldn't risk dying. Even if Mushroomsprout was there safely in camp.

"You're just going to let them kill each other?"

"It's a small price to pay for peace."

"You think this is going to bring peace?" Holly choked out. Berryfrost noticed they were struggling to hold in their anger. "You think killing cats is going to keep the peace?"

"A few sacrifices must always be made for the greater good." Berryfrost lashed his tail. Holly couldn't see things his way. They were so stubborn! "It will all be worth it, in the end." Berryfrost turned and continued watching the fighting cats. Holly will probably try to kill me. And, just as he thought, with a yowl Holly leapt forward to attack him. He quickly moved aside, causing Holly to jump directly into the flames. Ghost let out a shriek as Holly screamed, the fire burning off their fur and flesh quickly, like a hungry cat tearing at prey. Berryfrost watched them die, the fire quivering as though it did not know what it was doing. "Bad decision, Holly." He scolded gently like a mother to its kit. Holly's only response was a screech.

"It hurts!" They cried, "It's so hot! It's cooking me alive!"

Berryfrost couldn't help but laugh. Holly's cries were so funny! As if the fire was suddenly going to stop burning them. "Next time, don't try to kill an unsuspecting medicine cat." He lashed his tail again. Ghost let out a grief-stricken wail. Holly's skull remained, dropping onto the core of the flame with a thud before quickly being swallowed. Ghost watched it burn, his eyes full of anger.

"You killed them!" He yowled. He got ready to spring.

"Want to join Holly in the fire?" Berryfrost teased. Ghost growled before coughing violently, blood splattering onto the rock. "You don't look so good." His eyes glimmered with mock sympathy. "Here. I think Holly has something for you." Berryfrost pushed him as he was coughing into the flames. He let out an ear splitting scream, his eyes wide with terror. "What's the matter? I thought you and Holly were best friends. You two need to stick together." He laughed, his whiskers twitching with amusement. "Stupid rogues!" They never figured out his true intentions. They stayed with Snaketooth. They deserved this. He watched as Foxtuft was pinned to the ground by Fireskip, his eyes blazing with grief and anger. He laughed even harder. He was winning! The rogues were badly wounded, blood dripping onto the grass. Snaketooth was being attacked by both of his kits. The irony! He would have done anything to have his kit back, and now they were going against him. Berryfrost purred.

"Berryfrost! Can you tend to a few cat's wounds?" Hollystar called.

"Send them to me." He responded, getting his herbs ready. Birchstripe limped over to him, followed by Ambersong and Morningsun. "Morningsun, I'll check you first." His rage hardened as he remembered the times when Morningsun would barely lift a paw to help him as a kit unless it grew too extreme. He almost ripped the cobweb he placed on her wound, which was located on her side. Barely a scratch. "Head back to camp. Mushroomsprout should be back by now." He commanded to her. "When I'm done with you two, do the same." He quickly treated the other's wounds clumsily. Ambersong looked at him, confused, while Birchstripe blinked gratefully. They followed his orders, padding back to camp. Berryfrost sighed. He wished he wasn't a medicine cat. He wished he was in the heat of battle, pinning Snaketooth on the ground as he slashed his stomach open, taking out his intestines and throwing them into the flames... His eyes glowed with hunger. Snaketooth was his kill. Not Thistlepaw's or Bugpaw's. I want him to feel everything that I felt. His claws itched to tear into his skin.
