What got you to write such an amazing book?
Well first of all, I'm extremely flattered. Idk how to take compliments about my books because I'm very clearly an amateur writer. I grew up writing a lot, stupid little short stories, poems, and obviously essays in school. Growing up, my teachers praised me for my writing but I never took being an author seriously and now I'm a nurse so I write for fun. 😂😂
But what got me to write Fear and Love was reading. I was a late bloomer, I discovered Wattpad when I was 24 thanks to Tik Tok. And then I discovered anime fanfiction and very quickly got obsessed with Kakashi stories and smut 😩🤌🏻.
I'm a hardcore daydreamer, and before I knew what an oc was I had already created one. Tsuki Kuraku, brown hair, blue eyes with a dojutsu that gave her control of the four elements (because I'm a huge ATLA fan). I created the whole backstory of how she was held captive by Orochimaru and worked her into the story of Shippuden.
I loved daydreaming about this oc and after I discovered Wattpad, it seemed like a good idea to just write it down somewhere so I published Fear and Love. And subsequently, that gave me an excuse to work smut (AKA the shit people actually want to read) into the story.
I can see a huge difference in my writing when I first started. Practice really does make perfect. Before, I would leave grammatical errors, misspelled words, maybe the story was a tad cringey at times but I feel proud when I read Fear and Love Part 3. I feel like I'm much more descriptive, I take the writing more seriously and I don't feel scared to publish long chapters for the sake of painting a real image in the readers mind.
I'm still going back and editing Fear and Love Part I and I think I'm going to post a modified and better version on AO3 eventually. I genuinely love and appreciate the support from everyone, even the criticism ❤️❤️❤️
What does a typical day look like for you/What do you do for work?
On a work day, I get up at 3pm, lay in bed until 4pm then get up, wash my face, apply moisturizer and spf, do my hair (I have super curly hair), get dressed in my scrubs and head to work in a Cardiac ICU as a Registered Nurse. I get to recover people who have had open heart surgery, heart attacks, septic shock, cardiogenic shock, people who get their bellies a surgically opened in the room because they're bleeding, trauma patients, brain bleeds, hemorrhagic shock and anyone who is in critical condition and on ventilators. I swear I do chest compressions at least every other week. And now I'm a fill in charge nurse and run the whole unit. The part of California I live in is an anomaly. The population here is extremely sick. Lots of meth abuse, diabetes, smokers, gunshot wounds from gang shootings, people who don't take care of themselves so when they come to us they are pretty much already dead. Sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't. But, nonetheless I love my job, it makes me feel accomplished and although as a nurse I endure a lot of abuse from patients and have to deal with some asshole cardiothoracic surgeons, just having one patient cry to me that I saved their life makes it worth it :)
A typical day off is a little different. I have ADHD, I thrive off of having a set routine but honestly my life is a complete mess rn and I'm in so much emotional pain it's hard to do anything. I've been traveling here and there though. Just went to Vegas and won a jackpot and got a tattoo of L from Death note 😂
Do you like reading or writing more what kind of books do you like?
I read manga in my spare time. Again, with ADHD it's hard to focus on reading a book with words. I zone out very easily and never remember what I read. But with manga, at least there's artwork 😂
On Wattpad though I exclusively read anime fanfiction, although I've been slacking lately. And of courseeeee I love smut ❤️
Overall, I think I like writing more. But in order to be a good writer, you need to read. So I like both :)
How old were you when you started watching anime?
Picture it. Circa 2007, I was 11 years old and I went in an illegal anime website to watch Death Note because a friend recommended it to me. I watched it in sub, and I remember my little kid mind being absolutely blown by how smart L and Light were. I loved the cat and mouse chase, I loved the twists and turns, and I loved the cleverness of the writing. I also thought Light and L were cute and developed a crush on them.
However, fun fact about me. I never finished watching Death Note 😂 ⚠️⚠️⚠️SPOILERS IN THE NEXT SENTENCE⚠️⚠️⚠️
After L died I stopped watching 😂 but I'm going to rewatch and actually finish it this time like 14 years later
