Chapter 2:
I woke up in my usual spot just like normal. Except, it didn't feel normal. Every night, me Dan and Phil would share this one huge room in this abandoned building we called our home. Usually, Dan would sleep at the left of me, and Phil at the right with me in the middle. Our bed wasn't much, it was just three shabby old mattresses pushed together and tonnes of old blankets and pillows. We slept like this because even though we had electricity, we did not however have heating, and it gets pretty cold at the bottom of the ocean. It was about 7:00 in the morning according to my watch. I looked around and saw that Phil was asleep next to me in his usual place. He looked so peaceful. I sat up a little and yawned. Looking at the surrounding area. Everything was in place but there were only two backpacks against the wall. Me, Dan and Phil all have backpacks that we carry around with us that we kept things like antibiotics, ammo, pistols and other weapons in. I did mention that there were other people still alive in the world, but non in this city. Me Dan and Phil were the only humans here. I say humans because there are Splicers. Mutated people who are not human but still resemble one. They are not quite zombies as they don't eat your flesh, but they do attack you if you get too close. It is good, however, that they do not try to break down locked doors because that means that we can all sleep peacefully. But why were there only two backpacks against the wall? Then it hit me.
Dan was gone.
