Jaspers POV

It felt like we had been running for days, but in reality, it had probably only been about four hours. Right now, Talon and I were sitting in a secluded area were if someone tried, they couldn't see us. Talon was right, we couldn't go back now. Not after what I figured out and DEFENTLY, not after what Talon did. "So, what do we do now?" I ask quietly. Talon looked over too me. "With what?" He asked absent mindedly. "With what?! Talon, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but what we did back there was terrible! I committed multiple crimes, you ASSULTED a guard! They're not just going to let us go free! Talon, we have powers! we're seen as a threat to the king and the rest of the royal family." I stop to take a breath before continuing. 'Since when was talking so tiring?' I think.  "We can't just go into hiding and expect them to give up. Others have already tried that remember, and sure they got away with it, but the guards didn't give up until two years ago when they finally caught them, then what happened?" "...They were executed." Talon whispered, looking at the ground. "Exactly. And all of that was just because they had powers. We just doubled our crimes." I said quietly and leaned up against the tree behind me.

"I'm sorry." Talon whispered. "Don't be...it's my fault too."

"So, how long did you know?" He asked. "Know what?" "That you had powers." he says precisely. I sighed, looking down at my hands. The frost like ice had long melted but my hands were still ice cold. "I didn't. When I first got tested, they told me that my body would never be able to handle powers, so I didn't really even have a need to be tested. The only reason I was is because it's the kingdoms protocol." I said, sighing. "What? but how would it just magically, appear out of nowhere? I thought you had to be born with them?" Talon asked, perking up. i looked at him. "I don't know. But I don't want them that's for sure. People already hated me enough. And now, we probably have the entire kingdom after us." I laughed, even though I know this is no time to be laughing. "You...really don't want them?" He asked in shock. "You do?" I asked. he shrugged. "At times I do, at times I don't. They come in handy but at times it's really annoying." he says.

"Is there...Is there a way to get rid of them?" I ask. I wasn't going to do anything...I just wanted to know. "No. Not unless they're taken from you. And for them to be taken from you, you have to be killed." he says, standing up and checking around the entire place. "Oh."

"Someone's coming, we should leave now." He whispered. I stood up, following him as we started running again. This terrain is rough. There are twists and turns everywhere, paths that lead to dead ends and cliffs that if you fall off of them you fall into the ocean with shark infested waters. There were canons, valleys, rock over hangs, if Talona and I misjudge or underestimate the toughness of this forest, I think it'll kill us itself before the guards do.

I don't know how much longer we can go, were running from the best trained guards in the entire kingdom. And were just two runaways with powers. Who are we to think we stand a chance?

"THAT'S THEM!" We heard someone yell. "Talon...." I dragged out his name in worry. "I know. this way! quick!" He said in a whisper. i looked at where he wanted up to go. "WHA- ARE YOU CRAZY?! WE COULDN'T EVEN SURVIVE THAT FALL!" I whisperer yelled. He wanted up to jump down onto this big rocky landing then walk through the woods. "YES, we will! now, JUMP!" he whisper yelled. Right on time too, because as soon as we jumped a team of guards came barreling out of the grove we had just ran from. And then...they started chasing us.

"AHH!" I yelled as I hit the bottom of the fall. "See? what did I tell you? We're alive!" Talon breathed in a sigh of relief. "Yeah, but we won't be for much longer if we can't get away from them!" I yelled as I jumped up and gripped his hand before bolting to the left side of the path. "Talon, do we even know which way to go?" I asked as I swatted branches out of my way. "Not really, we just have to wing it. Right now, all we can do is run. when we find a good place to hide, we'll think about what to do then." He said as a branch almost hit him in the face. "Duck." I said sarcastically with a smirk on satisfaction as he groaned. "Thank for the early warning." He growled (RaWr) in irritation. "You're welcome!"
