¿NOW¿
I roll over, pulling the pillow over my ears to make the ringing go away. It doesn't stop. Giving up, I open my eyes with a groan, taking in my surroundings. I sit up slowly in the hospital bed, taking out the IV out from my arm and letting it drop to the floors. I pull on the uncomfortable gown and then my hair, racking my brain to figure out how I got here. Coming up with nothing due to my empty brain I huff in frustration.
Pushing the door to the hospital room open, ignoring the sharp pain it causes, I slowly make my way through the halls. Seeing no one, I make my way to the bottom floor and to the front desk. After seeing the lady on the phone and failing to get her attention I make my way to the door, thinking someone would have stopped me by now but I’m paid no mind.
Shrugging, I slowly make my way down the street, mentally mapping the fastest way I can get back to the cartel without drawing too much attention to me. I wait patiently at every crosswalk, once again people pay no mind to me like this is normal in LA or something. After a good chunk of time, I finally make it to the cover-up shop on the corner I call home. Softly touching the petals and leaves of the plants as I pass them I slowly make my way to the back door. I pull it open, my shoulders still in pain after the last door, and once again the world is silent. I expect at least Lily to rush up to me, freaking out about how I left the hospital or how I should be resting but I get nothing. Sighing in defeat, I start limping over to the sleeping quarters to see if I can find my lovers.
After pushing the door open to our bedroom and finding nothing I sink down onto the comforter and slowly doze off, figuring one of my partners will wake me up when they come home. But, instead of waking up to one of my lovers’ soft voices, I wake up to the sound of gasping sobs. Shooting up, I swivel my head around, trying to locate where the sound is coming from. I see a rumpled mane of hair next to me, Rae’s back heaving with each inhale and exhale. My heart breaks as I scoot over to her side of the bed, hugging her, trying to comfort her. Rae’s sobs slowly turn into sniffles and eventually, she stops and falls asleep.
Getting up, I limp my way over to the door, trying my best to not wake up Rae. I open the door slowly and softly, speeding up my pace to get to the medical wing to wrap myself up in less bloody bandages. Finally, I reach the rooms, doors swinging open and closed at every turn. I limp into the third door and lay down on the cot for a couple of minutes, catching my breath. After I calming down I start to pull myself up. Huffing and heaving I slowly start undressing and locating the needed supplies. I hiss in pain at the idea of what I’m going to have to do, just now realizing how much this will hurt.
