Chapter Two

?PAST?

Taking note of our blood-splattered clothes, Toast smirks.

“Charlie and Corpse reported already, the target was taken out and all evidence that it was us is being cleaned up as we speak by Yvonne, yes?”

Rae clears her throat, gesturing to Sykkuno and I that she’ll be the one talking. “Yes, the target was taken out along with all the cameras, Sykunno called Yvonne on the way back to give her the address.” Scarra nods swiftly, sliding over a file for us to record everything that happened.

“I want this finished by tomorrow, but go get rest, for now, you did a great job and will have bigger jobs coming soon.”

We all raise our eyebrows at the last part, having not heard anything about anything big in months. Micheal waves aggressively at us when we walk out, causing Sykkuno to pause and wave back. “Goodbye, Micheal! See you soon!” Rae sighs, pulling the beaming man by his arm, out of the office.

We start walking down the hallway towards our sleeping chamber, Rae grabbing Sykkuno and I’s hand tightly.

“Next time, we can’t get that split up without contact. We were about to get out the big guns because we thought something had happened to you and Charlie, Riv.”

I gulp, the guilt catching up to me, “Sorry- Charlie and I got onto the same wavelength and we had a bit too much fun. We had assumed that you guys would follow but I understand why you didn’t! It’s okay and I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you-” Sykkuno cuts me off, and only then did I see the sympathetic looks on my partners’ faces.

“It’s okay! We know you didn’t mean to worry us, Rae was just clearing that we need to stick together next time!” The man looks at me softly, hoping that calmed my nerves. I chuckle nervously, opening the door for the both of them, patting Sykkuno on the head as he passes.

“Thank you.”

We each change, hopping into bed and slowly snoozing off into the wonderful land of sleep.

I wake up to Rae’s head burrowed into my chest with Sykkuno’s arm wrapped around torso. Untangling myself quietly from the warmness of my partners, I make my way to the bathroom to relieve myself. After washing my hands I get lost in my face, seeing the years of sleepless nights finally catching up to me with dark eye bags and my messy unkempt hair. Shaking myself out of my trance, I realize I’m too awake to go back to sleep. Sighing softly, I peek my head out into the bedroom, seeing that Sykkuno has pulled Rae against him and they’re both softly snoring. Smiling dumbly at the sight I flick the bathroom light off and open the bedroom door to leave. Shutting it softly I make my way down the hallway to the training area. Looking down at my watch to check the time I don’t see Poki, who I end up running straight into.

“Oomf- Oh hey River,” the older untangles herself from me, ruffling my hair sightly.

“Charlie’s in the third room with Corpse if you’re looking for it! I gotta get back to Lily and Micheal before one of them wake up though, so bye-”  Poki pats my arm, jogging past me down the hall to get back to her room. I watch her jog away, still not fully processing what she had said until she opens her door and is gone from my sight.

“Charlie is- what?- Okay-” I nod to myself, pushing the big double doors to the room where Charlie and Corpse should be open. Right as I look up the latter slams Charlie to the mat. I chuckle loudly, watching Charlie kick Corpse off of it onto the mat with them. At the sound of my laugh, they both look over, surprised to see me in the training area instead of the kitchen, cooking as I do late at night.

“Charlie I didn’t realize you were so bad at late night fighting.”

“You shut your yap unless you wanna get in here and get your ass handed to you.”

“Oh is that a challenge little boy? You think you can beat me?”

Corpse chuckles, “You guys are such kids, Charlie rarely loses and you know it Riv” I gasp in mock hurt, “Corpse! Are you implying that I’m being,,, silly? I would never!” Their chests both rumble with that response, Charlie pulling the ropes apart for me to get into the ring.

So I actually had to stay behind after school so I wrote alot- I'll probably have something soon  and then my other OTV story should be updated tonight too!
