***Helion****
Amren and Rhysand showed up a few hours later, waiting to be escorted back to the library. Upon arriving Esther was looking around, "I swear. I didn't make that acolyte up. She was just here this morning." She walked down the different rows of bookshelves, entering other rooms.
Rhys gave me an unknowing look and shrugged, "I'm not sure what to say. I've never met a woman named Lyland."
Amren gave a small huff, looking between the three of us as Esther joined us once more. "I knew a woman named Lyland before. Years and years before the cauldron even dreamt the three of you up." She waved a small, manicured hand. "Different time. She wasn't good news, I'll tell you that."
Rhysand showed Amren the way to the stairs and Esther and I stood a few paces back. The mark had faded so Rhysand leaned down, releasing his dark power on it. After a few seconds it appeared again.
Amren stared, wide eyed at it before sinking to her knees. "I-I had forgotten." Her small dainty fingers touched the mark and tear trailed down her cheek.
Rhysand's face turned to a look a panic, "What is it? Why are you crying, Amren?"
I looked to Esther, she had turned a shade paler. I grabbed her hand to squeeze it gently. She looked up to me with a grateful expression. Amren's hand trembled, "I had forgotten so much it."
"Forgotten what, Amren?" I asked, daring to step closer, pulling Esther closely behind me.
"Forgot so much about my home. My father and my siblings. I-I, they banished me here. To this world."
"What do you mean world?" Rhysand asked quietly.
Amren looked at Rhysand, then behind him to Esther and I. I held her gaze. I had never seen Amren look anything besides strong, confident and arrogant. In this moment her expression was fragile and sad. "This mark," her gaze dropped back down to it. "It's called a wyrd mark. This one is a locking symbol," her voice trailed off. I think I should like to tell you about my past. Or, what I now remember."
