Molly and Darryl wasted no time as they hurried over to the school. They clung to their backpacks as they ran. The night was still dark and starry as the Mcgee siblings arrived at the school's front steps. Darryl and Molly looked around but couldn't see any sign of their ally. "So," Darryl said, trying to help keep the two of them preoccupied while they waited, "Does this friend of yours actually know about Scratch?" "Oh yeah, totally!" Molly exclaimed with her pointer finger in the air. Darry slumped his backpack sloppily over his shoulder. Just then, they heard a low whisper from behind them, "Hey, guys," which in the process startled them and made them jump a little. They spun around but let out a very deep breath when they saw who it was. "Thanks for coming, Libby," Molly said as she hugged her best human friend. Libby hugged back and replied with a yawn, "No problem, it could have been worse; you could have called me on a Monday morning," Darryl nodded sympathetically. "So, you said the emergency was about Scratch?" Libby questioned. Molly nodded, as did Darryl. They then told Libby what had happened yesterday and how Scratch was now on a hungry, ghostly rampage. Libby was shocked to put it lightly. But she managed to shake it off, this wasn't her first paranormal problem, after all. She's had plenty of adventures and misadventures with Scratch and Molly before. "Did you try to bring him back with the curse?" Libby asked Molly. Darryl looked surprised and turned to Molly, he had forgotten that the curse pulled Scratch back to Molly if ever the two were separated and if Molly called him by name. "It's broken, remember?" Molly replied, "By the time I actually saw what happened to him, he was so big, and he had eaten so much! All that food was so heavy that the curse probibly couldn't lift him up or bring him back to me if I was still cursed anyways!" Libby looked at Molly worriedly, "Just how big was he when you saw him?" Molly paused a moment before replying, "Last time I saw, twenty-five feet tall!" Libby's eyes popped, and so did Darryl's, he didn't know that Scratch had managed to consume that much food so quickly! But the three friends shook it off, they had things to do. "Well," Libby said, "If we're going to save Scratch...and town with him, then we'd better get to work. Darryl, did you bring the toxic goop?" Darryl rolled his eyes, "Number one, yes I did. Number two, it may be a toxic substance, but it's still my toxic substance!" Darryl said. Molly annoyingly huffed, "Let's just go," Molly said trying to bring the gang back to the much more important subject. "How are we going to get into the school? It's locked up tight!" Libby said, Darryl cracked his knuckles, letting a loud, annoying crack sound pulse the air for a moment. "That's where I come in!" Darryl replied. Darry ran down the steps and headed towards the back doors. He motioned for the girls to follow him. They followed Darryl as he dashed behind the school.
The twenty-five-foot, ectoplasmic blob sloshed down the street, looking for his next meal. He practically zoomed by the other houses, even though he had to drag his large, blue body on the ground. He knew he couldn't go into people houses and steal right from their fridges. He was still a ghost: a ghost who needed to keep his existence a secret. And that meant that he couldn't risk getting caught while fridge robbing. His stomach then let out a low grumble, he was still plenty hungry. He put a cold hand to his chin and tried to think of where he could go to find something to eat. Then, he remembered that the main grocery store was just down the street from where he was! His ghostly grin grew, and he zoomed off down the road!
Darryl had led the girls to the door that leads from the outside to the school gym. Then, as if by some miracle, when Darryl placed his hand against the door, the door bridged open just a crack. Molly and Libby's eyes popped wide open. They could now see a small, golden, slightly rusted chain holding the door back and keeping it from being opened from the outside. Then, Darryl proceeded to take what appeared to be a dull pocketknife. He wedged it between the small gap in the door and the wall. Then, he slowly began to pull the little chin which was preventing the door from opening. Then with a tiny "clink!" the chain dropped, and the door swung open. Darryl stood proudly by the door and smirked, "I await your applause," Darryl teased, but he knew better than to actually allow for there to be loud, attracting applause in the middle of the night. So, when Molly was about to clap for Darryl's handy work, Darryl and Libby stopped her by grasping her wrists, and not a moment too soon! Her hands were less than an inch away from a clap! Molly took a deep breath and slowly brought her hands apart, as if they didn't want to. "Nice work," Molly whispered. She was the first one to come dashing into the school, with Darryl and Libby behind her. "Let's get to the science lab!" Molly exclaimed softly, "Who knows how big Scratch is by now!" With that, Molly, Darryl and Libby dashed into the hall and made their way towards the school science lab!
