William

“Prince William '' My uncle said, standing in my doorway. I looked at him through the mirror. “Your sister has arrived… I thought it would be best if she slept in here with you.” Two handmaidens came in, one was holding my crying baby sister while the other set up a crib. The maid went to put her in.

“Wait NO, I’ll take her” I said, back quickly with my arms stretched out. The maid placed her in my arms, her cry started to grow quieter. There was just something in me that didn’t want to let her be alone. She’s one of the last things that I have left. “Any news from my father?”

“He still hasn’t caught them,” My uncle said while looking down.

“So he won't be able to make it?”

“I’m sorry buddy” he whispered. “You and Lilianna can stay here as long as you want”

“Thankyou Uncle Alexander”

It was just 3 days ago when my mother died, I never thought that I would be losing father as well. I was so angry with him, how could he just leave us like that. Doesn't he know that we need him too? I don't care if it's to find her assassins, the knight can do that on their own. I handed Lilianna back to one of the maids. While the family's head butler George helped me get ready for the funeral.

One Hour Later

“Prince William it’s time” The butler said in the doorway.

“Yes”  I replied back, with little emotion, I picked Lilianna up from her crib. She was dressed in all black just like me. We walked down the stairs and a long hall then outside. I climbed into the first carriage. I knew that Uncle Alexander and Cousin Veronica were in the second one, but because she was mine and Lilianna mom we rode in the first do to formalities. I didn’t even know what I was feeling. My chest was tight, my eyes were sore, and my throat was dry and scratchy. I wished that my mother could be with me, I miss her warmth so much. I was so lost in thought that I didn’t even realize it when the carriage came to a stop.

“Prince William,” My uncle said. I slowly turned my head over to him. “It’s time to get off,” he whispered. I sat up from my seat and handed him Lilianna, so that I could climb down with no worries of falling with her. Uncle gently placed her back into my arms.

Cousin Veronica was standing about 20ft away from me, she was dressed in all black, and wore a veil. She focused her look at the ground; not once did her gaze move from it. Uncle walked behind me pulling Cousin along with him. We walked past all the townspeople.  Soon we were standing outside the entrance to our family's crypt. I climbed up the step and took my place beside her casket, all the nobles were seated. Uncle and Cousin took their place on the first row. Because Lilianna, and I are her children we had to stand by her. Father should be up here with us, but instead he’s chasing off after her killers. It made me mad that he couldn’t take 3 days with Lilianna, and I. To comfort us, make sure that we’re okay? It was so lonely being up here, I have Lilianna I know I do but she’s just a baby.

“And it is with heavy hearts that we are here today” The Pope began to say. “ For the loss of a light… For the loss of a mother, sister, and daughter. For the loss of our Princess, is the loss of the kingdom.” Lilianna started to cry, I tried rocking her back and forth but nothing worked, so I just gave up and let her cry. “Long live Princess Emmilen Winter of Cicia”

“Long live Princess Emmilen Winter of Cicia” I spoke out loudly.

“Long live Emmilen Winter of Cicia” Cousin and Uncle shouted in unison with me, the next to follow were the nobles then the townspeople. Until it was the only thing that echoed. Nothing could be heard for a moment. Until the crowd grew silent, so silent that you could hear a pin needle drop it remained that way for a while. My world grew slightly darker as if the color was draining from the world little by little. The sky that was once blue grew gray, the flowers that were once vibrant, lost their ability to shine. Is it going to be this way forever? One tear slowly fell down my cheek.

Night fall came fast, I had put Lilianna down in her crib. The moment my head hit the pillow tears wanted to come out but they couldn’t, it was as if they were sucked dry of all moisture.

What is this place? Where am I? I looked all around me, it was like I was in the most beautiful place in the world. The skies were vibrant pink and blue and the clouds were like orange wisps. The grass was green with purple flowers in it. I looked behind me and there was my mom. She was wearing a beautiful white dress that was pink at the bottom, her long red hair blew in the breeze. Her arms were spread out wide.

“Mom!” I shouted while reaching out to her “I thought I lost you” but before I could embrace her she turned into tiny white flowers. I chased them running down stairs into darkness. Soon everything around me turned pitch black.

“Mom! Are you there?”  I looked around in the darkness but I could see nothing.

“William” her voice said,  I ran as fast as my feet could carry me.

“Ahhhh” I’m falling. I felt the wind rush past my limbs, I tried to exhale but I couldn't. It was as if all the air was being sucked back into me.

Splash

I could feel water as it started rushing into my lungs, I kicked my legs trying to swim to the surface, but something wrapped around them pulling me back under.

“Wah Ah An Wah” is that Lilianna? I looked around into pitch black water. I tried to scream out but nothing came out. My eyes began to flutter closed. Mom come save me. I'm so scared.

I woke up in cold and hot sweats. Tears ran down my cheeks, I walked over to my desk and pulled out my notebook and pencil.

What is this? Who am I? Where is the warmth of your embrace?

It feels as if the ground is spinning beneath me and that there's nowhere to escape. It feels as though all the color from the world is draining.

Where are you mom? Where is home? My hopes are disappearing and the leaves

are beginning to rot. Where is the end of the tunnel?

Will I ever find a way out of the abyss?
