// Third POV //
Yoshi didn't realize that the last time he had vanilla ice cream was in grade school. As he developed into a man, the only ice cream he ever had was rocky road. He couldn't even look at any of the other flavors, everyone in his life has always asked him how he never got sick of eating the same exact dessert for over twelve years.
He rejected Asahi's offer of buying him the ice cream. Asahi and Jihoon hated it whenever someone else had to pay for them. If you ever needed money, you could always go to them because they were never apart from their wallets for very long before getting paranoid.
The J-line had their own type of personal dynamic just like the Korean guys did. They all had the same traits: they were stubborn, helpful, will absolutely give you the shirt off their backs even though you didn't ask.
Yoshi told Asahi to not even try. He was the oldest of the Japanese natives and it was his job to pay for them, end of story.
Asahi seemed unwilling to give up but eventually saw his protests were now meant with plain ignorance, causing him to sigh and walk to his same aged friends.
Hyunsuk shivered as the ground growled below him. He was told by their tour guide to not look down but even when you didn't, you could FEEL how high up they were.
Humans aren't meant to be so high into the atmosphere, that's what they invented grass for.
Though they've been a group for close to two years now, Hyunsuk was still trying to seem like the 'cool hyung' to his eleven younger brothers.
He supposed everyone could use a break from tour practices, thus Hyunsuk was nearly backed into a corner when the boys asked if they could explore the dense regions of Arizona on their one day off.
Something about the Grand Canyon has always freaked him out.
Maybe it's the fact that Arizona is right inside of the Ring of Fire, which makes the ground naturally and suffocatingly hotter than hell. Or maybe it's the fact that the canyons are massive, high in altitude and about a 7,000 foot drop to the ground. Hyunsuk hated being in places where if he lost his footing, he'd fall to his death.
But he had heard from the kids how happy and excited they were to be here together so he kept his fears to himself, deep inside, and shut up.
There was always a method in how the guys handled each other when they were in public together.
When you're a group of friends, high school and college ages, with age gaps, your natural instinct to act like a bigger sibling to them. It doesn't matter if you're family, friends, or even just coworkers. If you are older, it just happens naturally, you want to be on the look out for everyone whether it be because you are a superior or just simply because you care about their safety.
Thus, as older friends, Jihoon and Hyunsuk had their own structure in how everyone is handled. The maknaes are forbidden to go anywhere without a hyung with them, since they were still teenagers. Sometimes if the hyungs are preoccupied with something or they just weren't available, Haruto would be left in charge because he was reliable and mature for his age, and had the track record to get Hyunsuk to have great trust in him.
