The king was many things but interested was not one of them, every debutante that stood in front of him he nodded to be polite but waved them away with the flick of his wrist. He knew deep down that he had to choose a certain Lady to be the so called 'diamond' which was tradition in the square.

The diamond would be the most looked at throughout the season as she had been handpicked by royalty and to be quite honest with anyone he felt sorry for then whoever who he had to pick.

The morning had been long and tiring to the king and before even seeing the next Lady and their mother he decided that they would be the one no matter who or what there family status or what they looked like.

'Announcing Viscountess Alyssa Devereux and her daughter Miss Amelie Devereux' The doorman shouted before opening the door.

Alyssa and Amelie stood proudly as the door opened with only smiles for anyone watching, they started to walk very calmly and slowly down the very well constructed aisle towards the king that was looking all but interested throne.

'Your majesty' Amelie and Alyssa both curtsied towards him. Amelie keeping her head at an angle so that she could make the best impression on him.

And it was as if the angel had blessed his choice, when he laid eyes on her after only hearing her voice he knew that his instinct had been correct in choosing the next diamond.

And if she wasn't a duchess, lady or a princess by the end of the season he swore he would eat his crown.

'You I choose you' And with that the king stood up leaving all different emotions all over the tonnes face as he left the room.

'Mother did he just?' Amelie looked up at her mother.

'I believe he did sweetheart' Alyssa looked towards her husband and grinned. They had brought a beautiful girl into the world and the king had chosen her.
