spring, the start of a new school year at miyamasuzuka girls' academy. that was the year mafuyu made a friend she wasn't expecting to make. she wore a pink cardigan with a smiley face pinned on to it, it was clear she wasn't an ordinary person. she was a bundle of joy that the elder had a hard time keeping up with.
"i'm going to make you smile one day,"
"hm..."
normally mafuyu would kindly laugh it off as a joke, but there was a certain power to her words.
she felt warm.
allowing the busy courtyard fill her ears to pass time, mafuyu looked up. sure enough the younger girl had a faint smile curving her lips.
"there you go talking like that again. i'm fine, really,"
"yeah, but when you smile you smile all weird. like you're trying to force it out,"
mafuyu looked away sentimentally, then to her lap.
she was right.
mafuyu didn't bother denying it.
"maybe, but even if was forced then..."
"then?"
a small smile formed on mafuyu's lips.
maybe this girl knew more about her than she thought.
