I pull open the window to my bedroom and quickly pull myself up to the fire escape. I move to the top of the roof as I feel my vision begin to blur. I clench my eyes shut and push myself up against an air vent. My brain becomes blank and my breathing becomes ragged
The city is in ruins. Beautiful buildings turned to dust in a matter of minutes.
"This is all your fault," a voice hissed in my ear and I flinch. I walk through the ruins on the ground and step on something soft. I look down and scream as I leap back. Tears spring from my eyes as I realize it is a body. A human body. I quickly crouch down and check their heart rate. There isn't one. I sit on my knees and sob as I look at the strangely familiar dead body bellow me.
"This is all my fault," I whisper. "I did this to you. To everyone." I whimper and burry my head in my knees.
"It wasn't your fault," The man who I thought was dead coughs out and I scream before I cry with relief.
"You're alive."
My vision comes back and I feel the tears still leaking from my eyes. My heart slowly regains its normal pace as I try to analyze what I just saw. It was the same vision I've been having for a week now, but each time it gets stronger. I can never tell when the visions happen, I only know when my pulse begins to race. I usually don't have them so often, but it's been weird this week. It's like I'm being warned that something is going to happen, and it's not going to be good.
I climb back down the shoot and land safely in my room. I quickly go to my door and lock it before I go to my bed and search the mattress for my journal. I quickly pull out the black leather binding and open it up to my next available page. I begin to write furiously before I forget about my vision. As I finish the last words of my entry, the vision leaves and a knock lands on my door.
I cringe at who it could be.
"Kasper, it's me," my little brother says softly through the door. I sigh in relief and go to unlock the door. Callaghan walks through and I quickly shut the door behind him, quickly relocking it.
"Is dad in there?" I nod my head in the direction that the living room would be in and he nods slightly.
"You wanna sleep in my room tonight?" I ask, knowing that his answer will be yes. With dad in the living room, Callaghan has no place to sleep.
"I'll get the air mattress." He says and heads to my closet. We set up the air mattress and put sheets over it. I walk over to my closet and begin to pick out night clothes for me to sleep in.
"Hey sis?" Callaghan asks.
"Hmm?" I answer, not looking over at him.
"Did.... did you have another vision?" I freeze as I look up from the almost empty area. I turn around and see Callaghan watching me.
"How did you know about that?" I ask and his face morphs into one of guilt.
"I found your journal when you were at work one day," He answers sheepishly with his head hung, looking at the dirty carpet.
I close my eyes and exhale. I reopen them and look at him. "Yes, I did." I say and he looks up, startled by my answer.
"Was it bad?" he asks and I shrug.
"Look, don't worry about it. They're just visions figments of my imagination," the more I lied to him, the more it hurt me.
"You're lying," he says and I look at him, surprise registering on my face. I quickly brush off the topic and go to turn off the lights. I quickly change into my night clothes in the dark and the climb into my small double bed. Everything is quiet for a few minutes as I begin to relax.
"I wish you would just tell me the truth." I hear Callaghan whisper in the dark and my heart slightly deflates at the hurt in his voice. Callaghan and I weren't like most siblings. We had to stick together if we wanted to survive. We had to be closer than most, that meant we couldn't keep secrets and when one was hurt, so was the other.
"I know, and I will, I'm just not ready." I whisper back and silence completely falls between us. I fall into a troubled sleep as I think about all of the things that we've been through.

I awake to the sound of someone stumbling around the house. I quickly rip the covers off of my body as I hear the footfalls getting closer. His grumbling gets louder and I begin to panic.
"Callaghan, wake up, he's coming." I quickly whisper to him as I shake him awake. He jolts into action and we both dive for the door as the handle begins to jiggle. Harsh poundings land on the door as my dad curses.
"Open the fucking door!" He roars as I head to my closet and grab our backpacks. His fist slam harder into the door and I begin to rush, thinking he might break down the door. Callaghan stands in fear as he puts on his shoes and then goes to open the window. I toss him his back pack and he's out the fire escape.
I'm right behind him as I shut the window behind me. We quickly rush down the stairs and into the busy early morning streets. We begin to walk quickly to the bus stop and as we wait for the bus to come, our tension from this morning slightly fades.
"So, I got an 'A' on my math test," Callaghan says from beside me and I smile brightly at him.
"That's great kido, how'd you do on the history test though?" I asks and he frowns slightly.
"I only got a 'B', but that was because I missed those few days." he says and I nod at him, my smile slightly dimming.
"It's ok Cal, you are doing better than I could ever ask for." The bus pulls to a stop in front of us and we quickly climb on. We both move to find an empty seat towards the back. People stare at us probably thinking it to be weird that two kids were in their pjs on a bus. I just ignore their stares and sit on the window seat.
Callaghan pulls out his old mp3 and hands me a headphone. I smile gratefully at him and he beams at me. The rough voice of seether fills my ear as I listen to 'country song'. I close my eyes and revel in the sound. Music and writing are the only two things that can make me forget all the awful things that happens daily. It's like I can connect and become someone else. Music does it especially.
I slightly drift off. I am shaken awake as Callaghan calls my name softly. I smile at him and we get off the bus quickly. As we get off, I turn to look at the bus and see a boy looking at me through the window. His almost black eyes send chills down my spine as alarm rings through my brain. My eyes widen and my jaw drops as I look at the face I've been seeing in my vision for a week now.
"It's not possible." I whisper as I stay caught in the unwavering gaze of the mysterious boy.
"Kasper, you ok?" Callaghan asks and my attention snaps back to him.
"Yeah I'm fine.." I look up and find that the bus is gone.
