Suddenly he got a text. It was from his dad...

[Hello I'm sorry I won't be able to come to your birthday again. I have some work stuff to deal with]

Nick:
[Oh it's alright]

It wasnt okay. He was looking forward to it. And now he decided to not come. Again. Because of work honestly it was stupid! Just stupid!

Tears threatened to spill from his eyes.

He doesn't care for you why do you look forward to it if you know he won't be able to make it.

Nick you know he only cares about money and work.

Why can't you just accept-

"Nick? Are you okay?"

"I- erm I- I'll be fine" nick replied looking the other way.

"Nick... You won't be fine if you don't tell me what happened."

"It's honestly- nothing!- it's just stupid!" Nick said as Charlie hugged him.

"You know you can cry right?" Charlie said as nick tried not to.

Nick shook his head and said.

"Why would I? I shouldve known my dad won't come to my birthday!"

"It's alright.. atleast you will have me to cheer you up!"

"Y-yeah. You're the best Charlie" nick said with a sad smile on his face.
