"Mhm, mhm, mhmhmhmmm..." a gentle voice hummed from a location unknown. From the open window, contrasting the night's deep blue sky, a small rag-doll swayed into the room. The rag-doll was that of a boy, with caramel yarn for hair, lagoon green buttons for eyes, and wearing hand-sewn clothes of a green hoodie and sweatpants.

Hands akin to needles carefully grasped the doll, bringing it to the work table. With one hand, a box of all sorts of tools and utensils was opened, and the doll was placed on an open space between them. With the utmost care, the doll was positioned face down, sharp shears cut away at the dolls clothes and the needle-like hands removed them.

The caramel yarn for hair was pulled, unravelling it from the doll's scalp, leaving only cut ends embedded into the soft material of the doll. With the tips of the skilful needle hands, the thread that kept the green coloured button eyes was removed, allowing the buttons to be removed completely. The stitched lining of the mouth was torn open, exposing the stuffing that was put into the doll. And that too was removed. Only the doll's husk remained.

The needle hands reached into the doll's open mouth, and pulled, turning the doll inside out, which showed a paler colour than what it once was. Instead of cotton stuffing, sand filled the doll, giving it a new squishy texture. The doll was placed back onto the work table, facing up this time. The mouth was stitched back together. New misty blue coloured buttons replaced the eyes of the doll, gently sewn into place by cream thread. Golden yellow yarn was re-rooted into the holes in the doll's scalp.

"Da da dadada dada daaa..." the same gentle voice as before scatted a melody of a song as the hands worked the yarn. White and red material was cut with shears and pinned into place. The balance wheel of a sewing machine was spun, clearly unused for a long while as it had collected a layer of dust and a blanket of cobwebs. The white thread was mechanically woven into the material, sealing the seams together.

The doll's new look was now complete. It, as before, also resembled a young boy. Golden yarn for hair, misty blue buttons for eyes, a white t-shirt with red short sleeves and blue denim jeans for clothes. As the needle-like hands held it back up to the open window, they let it go with a gentle push, sending the doll gently gliding through the window and out into the open night sky, as the window slowly closed shut.
