I awoke in the middle of the night to hear rustling. Panicking, I knew that there were only two options as to what it could be.

1) Luke's stupid ass

2) walkers

Oh god, I really hope it's Luke. I inch my way out of the warmth and safety that the sleeping bag held and I crawled over to the tent's entrance.

I slowly zip open the flap, careful to not make any noise. I open it a good five inches until I see Luke. Relieved, I unzip the rest of the flap.

I smiled. He was right where he said he would be. His back was facing me, so I was yet to be discovered. I reach my arm out and gently tap his back. Hopefully he won't flip out this time.

He whips around, coming face to face with me. I swear, his sleepy blue eyes were practically glowing. Even though it was pitch black out here, I could still tell that he was on the brink of falling asleep.

"What are you doing?" He whispered.

I roll my eyes,"You're about to fall asleep." It wasn't a question. It was a statement.

Without waiting for a response, I crawled back over to the sleeping back. Luke looked at me with one of those 'what are you doing you crazy woman' looks on his face.

I sigh. Has he really not caught on yet? I pat the spot next to me,"Just come here. You're about to fall asleep anyway."

At first, he looks torn. I wouldn't have asked him if I knew he didn't need to rest. But he seriously looks like he's about two seconds away from crashing on the ground.

"No," He yawns. "I'm fine. I can manage."

"It'll be fine. No walkers will come over to us if we don't draw attention. Plus, you won't be able to do anything tomorrow if you're sleep deprived."

When he doesn't answer, I keep going. "Luke, just get your moronic butt over here."

Reluctantly, he crawls in the tent and zips it up behind him. He kicks his shoes off, then he turns to me. "Shut your eyes."

Even though I'm confused, I do as he says. It wasn't until after I hear the zip that I know he's getting clothes out of the bag.

"Okay," he grunts out. I open my eyes to see him wearing a pair of sweat pants and a plain black t-shirt.

He smirks,"Are you done checking me out yet?"

My cheeks burn in embarrassment and before I could come up with a sarcastic comment, he slides his way into the sleeping bag. I take a sharp intake I breath when I realize just how close we are.

To try and calm my racing heartbeat, I turn to where my back is to him. Since he has nowhere to put his arms, I'm basically using one of them as a pillow, while the other one lays at Luke's side.

Well, this can't get any more awkward.

************************

You know that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you first wake up in the morning? Yeah, well, I didn't have one when I woke up.

It was still dark out, so there was no way in hell I was getting up. I groaned and closed my eyes. Maybe I could fall back asleep.

After about fifteen minutes of restless tossing and turning, Luke became annoyed. Even though he was asleep, he was still a jerk. He unconsciously smacked my leg in hopes of getting me to stop moving, but it didn't work. Instead, I hissed in pain, which caused him to wake up.

Still half asleep, he tried once again to get me to go back to sleep. "Charlie, please, go the fuck to sleep. It's too early for this."

I huffed in annoyance, "What do you think I'm trying to do?"

After that, Luke had tried another technique. He wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me down to where I literally couldn't move. Okay, that was smart. But the next thing he did caused me to completely go still.

He placed his lips on the back of my neck. His lip ring was cold, causing shivers to go down my spine. The cheeky little bastard knew what he was doing, too. I could even feel him smirking, "Charlie. Go. To. Bed." This time, I obliged.

***********************

The third time I woke up, it wasn't because of some scary noise, it wasn't because of the late night insomnia, but it was because of the sunlight shining through the thin layers of the tent.

I absolutely knew that I wasn't gonna fall asleep this time, so I just sat there. I know knew two things about Luke.

1) He is very grumpy in the morning, and he will do ANYTHING to go back to sleep.

2) He can be very perverted in the morning.

Then, I noticed the position we were in. I was facing Luke with both of my hands place of his chest. His chin was placed firmly on my head. One of his arms was wrapped around my waist in a protective manor, while I was using the other as a pillow.

I didn't want to move. I was warm and I felt safe in his arms. Even though I would never say that out loud. It was the first time, even before the apocalypse, that I felt relaxed and protected.

Oh gosh, what was I saying? This is Luke I'm talking about. I shouldn't even be this close to him. I'm probably loosing brain cells by the minute.

I closed my eyes, thinking. I honestly didn't know what to call our friendship. One second, we want to kill each other, the next second we would be smiling and teasing each other. It was very strange.

Another thing I had noticed about us is that we would always react to each other. If he moves, I move. If I'm uneasy, he's most likely going to be uneasy. It was weird.

Whenever I opened my eyes once again, I was met with those pretty blue ones. How are his eyes that bright? They seemed to change with his mood. If he was upset, his eyes were darker. If he was happy, they would be lighter, which they were right now.

Trying to break the silence, I say the first thing that I could think of. "You can be very perverted in the morning. Like, really perverted. I'm pretty sure you violated me last night."

By the smirk on his face, I could tell that he knew what I was talking about. "It was the only way I could get you to go to sleep. I mean, it worked, right? I scared you shitless last night."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah," I glare at him. "I know."

I slowly started to crawl my way out of the sleeping bag. As soon as I was out, I regretted it immediately. It was too cold for this shit. I quickly scoot over to the bag of clothes, aware of Luke's eyes following my every move. I grab the red flannel at the top of the bag, luckily, which isn't too big.

I slip my shoes on and open the flap of the tent. Stretching, I scanned my surroundings. It was peaceful out here, and I could almost forget the apocalypse.

I could hear the birds chirping in the distance, the gentle sound of water running, and the trees swishing lightly in the wind. It was beautiful. Not to mention the sun shining perfectly through the cloudy sky. What? I know, I sounded cheesy. But when you have dead people following you, you start to appreciate the small things.

Luke soon comes out behind me, wearing a pair of black jeans and the same black t-shirt. Somehow, his hair was still in that quiff, whilst mine was in a lopsided bun on the top of my head. So not fair.

"Cat got your tongue?" He smirks.

I scowl at him. "Ha ha, very funny. God, you're such an egotistical, arrogant, as-" I was cut off by the sound of shouting. I could automatically tell that it was Grant.

"Lucas! Charlie! I found other survivors!"
