Dylan(3), Ric(20), Riley(20), Angela(9 Months Old)

Dylan was spoon-feeding Angela while Ric was reading the bible in his chair. Riley was out shopping for groceries. "Ok Angel, open wide." Dylan smiled at his baby sister.

Angela smiled at her brother and clapped her hands, Ric looked up at his kids laughing and smiling. He did love his family, but when he is drunk or high, he's not himself. He stood up from the chair and put the bible on the reading table before walking over to his kids.

"Hey boy." Ric smiled at his son.

"Hi daddy!" Dylan smiled as he spoon-fed Angela.

"Here let me do it, son." Ric said, sitting down next to Angela and spoon-fed her.

Angela smiled and clapped her hands, Dylan awed at her.

"She likes it, daddy!" Dylan smiled.

Ric smiled at his daughter, her piercing eyes looking up at him. She looked just like him when he was her age. He started to get flashbacks of his painful childhoods.

"Yeah, she does. I'm going to be out back, you watch your sister." Ric said, getting up.

Dylan watched Ric storm out back, for a 3 year old, he knew Ric was gonna get drunk again and probably high.

"Dada." Angela spoke.

Dylan looks over at her and nods.

"Come on Angel," Dylan spoke as he cleaned her up. "Let's get you out of here before he comes back."

He quickly put everything away and took Angela upstairs to her bedroom, so he could get her ready for bed. Dylan did not want his father near his baby sister when he's drunk or high. He was so overprotective of her.

It is May 19, 1908 and it's Angela's very first birthday. Dylan and Riley were baking cake for Angela, while Ric was out back fixing up a bike for her. "Is Angela gonna love the cake, mama?" Dylan asked.

Riley kissed his head.

"Of course, sweetheart." She tells him.

"GAHHHH!" They heard Ric screamed.

"Dylan, go upstairs." Riley ordered.

Dylan ran out of the kitchen, but stayed behind the hall out of view to see Ric storming inside in rage.

"Dear, are you alright?" Riley asked, walking over to him.

"NO!" Ric snaps at her.

Riley grimaced when he snapped, but learned to get used to it.

"I FREAKIN' MESSED UP ON THE STUPID BIKE!" He shouts. "I CAN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING RIGHT!"

"Honey, it's ok. It's only a mistake." Riley told her.

Dylan felt his heart pounded, not wanting his father to hit his mother or him and Angela.

"I'M A MISTAKE!" He screamed.

Riley was taken aback.

"Ever since I was born!" Ric cried.

Riley felt her heart break,

"Ric..." She said softly as he touched his arm.

But Ric flinched and smacked Riley in the face, causing her to fall backward. Ric kicked the chair down before storming back out, probably drinking now. Dylan was too scared to move at that moment, he wanted to be with his mother and hug her, but was scared that Ric may come back in and hurt him too. Dylan knew what his father was doing, even for a 3 year old...abusing his loved ones.

Dylan was in his bedroom, looking out the window to see his father and some of Ric's so-called friends. He saw Ric starting to get fuming, lashing out at the other fellas.

"Please help my father, Jesus." Dylan prayed in his head.

He wished his dad would be his father...he was also afraid of him as well.
