So today I was at a local grocery store and there was this new worker, right? I've been here tons of times and this person is obviously new. Keep in mind, I'm fine with she/her pronouns, but prefer he/they. I'm also a very feminine looking guy, so people often don't know if I'm a biologically masculine girl, or a.. well- feminine guy.  So this new lady, she looks super freaking out of it and like she hates her job and life. I walk to her checkout lane with my bag snacks(I'm weird and like healthy shit like dried kale and mangos) .  She looks at me with this grimace of death and mutters

"girls these days, so obsessed with their looks," Now I don't know what the hell she meant by this. I do not groom my hair, I am not "super skinny"(though I am on the skinnier side), my clothes that day weren't even that clean. If anything she should have insulted me on not caring enough! So I don't really like the term "girl" so I correct her and say something she'll understand:

"I'm a boy."

She just stares at me. I have a very androgynous face and it seemed like she was confused on whether to believe me or not. She just shakes her head and keeps checking out my items. I'm just like, Hello?

So I come back the next day(I'm a very frequent shopper lol) and she's there at the checkout station. I grab some soap for my friends birthday(he is a weirdo and asked for it). I decide to go to the ladies checkout lane again to clarify I do not like to be called a girl. I am finally in front of her. We lock eyes and I say "My pronouns are He/they/hers with a preference to He/they." with a warm smile. I gotta be friendly ok? She doesn't respond and checks all my items out.

I came into today and she was nowhere to be found ;-; did I make this lady quit like idk.
