I walk to school the next day and Niall meets me at the front of the school.
"Good morning!" he says cheerily, two Starbucks cups in hand.
"Good morning! What's this?" I ask, gesturing to the drinks.
"For you. I didn't know what you wanted so I hope you like it," he says handing me one of the drinks.
"Thanks, Niall!" I say with a surprised smile. "What is it?"
"Just an iced latte. I usually get that," he says taking a sip of his own.
I take a sip and make an mmm noise.
"Thank you so much Niall you're so sweet," I say and he blushes.
"You're welcome," he mumbles.
I don't know why I'm making him nervous but somehow I am. Or maybe I'm misreading the situation.
People barely talked to me at home and when they did they would make fun of me or tell me to live up to my brother. They definitely didn't do whatever this was.
"So how was band practice?" I ask as we walk into the building.
"Good. I got to show off my guitar skills," he says proudly.
"You can play guitar?" I ask.
"It's one of my many talents," he says with a goofy grin.
"You are full of surprises aren't you Ni," I say, nudging him with my shoulder. He smiles his blue eyes locking on my hazel ones. We stay like that for a while just walking and getting lost in each other's eyes until we bump into someone.
"Oh sorry guys," Liam says as I grab Niall's shoulder to steady myself. He puts his arm around my waist to help me, making butterflies flutter in my stomach.
What is happening? I haven't had a crush on someone since seventh grade. Could that be what's happening? No... I've only just met Niall.
"It's alright we should have been paying attention," Niall says blushing a little.
"Yeah you should've lad," Liam chuckles, punching him lightly in the shoulder. "No band practice today mate Harry and Louis are busy after school at the bakery, probably on a date or something," he says, rolling his eyes with a smirk.
"Cool, I can show you around London today if you want? We could even drop by the bakery Harry works at to see Lou and H," he says.
"Yeah, that would be fun!" I smile.
"I would join you but I have homework," Liam shrugs.
"Always so responsible," Niall teases and Liam waves him away.
"You know me," he says before rushing off to his class.
It only takes about five minutes to get to my class.
"See you after class Bails," he says when we get to my classroom.
"Bails really? That's the best you could do?" I scoff, smiling at the awful nickname.
"Ni really? I'm not Bill Nye the science guy," he says and I laugh.
"Fair. I'm not gonna stop calling you Ni though," I say and he smiles.
"And I won't stop calling you Bails," he says.
"We have a deal then," I say grinning like crazy.
"I guess so," he says taking a tiny step forward. We're silent for a second just smiling at each other before the bell rings.
