The great lead I had took me to a dead end, they got the drop on me and moved the girl.
"Shit"
Not giving up I searched the house for clues. I found nothing not only did they leave nothing of hers behind the drowned everything in bleach.
My wolf and I winced at the burn in our nose. Shaking my head I left. Speaking of my wolf, he no longer talks or really makes himself know more often than not.
Honestly I think the only reason he hasn't disappeared or gone completely crazy is the resolve I have to get our vengeance. I miss his voice though, but I understand his silence.
It starts to rain so I keep my head low and look for some where to take shelter.
I'm not sure how long I've been wondering around but I see a small light ahead and walk towards it. Curiosity has me coming up to a small cottage half hidden away by honeysuckle. Sniffing I feel intoxicated by the smell of it and some other coyly hidden scent that I'm not sure what it is.
Blindly following my nose I jump a foot in the air when the door suddenly opens scaring the fur off me. In the doorway is a woman with willowy limbs, curly red hair, and bright blue eyes. She is about five feet tall, and eyes me wearily.
"I know what you are, if you promise not to harm me you can ride out the storm here," she says with a airy voice with power in it.
She is a witch, from her scent I can tell she's a good one not evil. I give her a nod and she let's me in.
Her home is small but cozy, the scent of herbs everywhere is weird but not unpleasant.
"You can shift in my room if you want, I'm assuming that you have clothes in that backpack of yours?" She says it like a question.
Again I nod and she directs me to a small bedroom down a short hallway. I enter and again feel the cozy feeling.
- she is our second chance mate
I'm startled by my wolf's voice, then again by what he says.
"Seriously?"
- yes I can tell but I don't know if I have a heart left to give
"I know, I feel the same. Do you think she knows? Or would we have to say something?"
- I don't know, but if she doesn't say anything I don't think we should either
"I agree, but if she does.. what do you think we should do?"
- ask if we can be friends? Tell her we're not ready for that, and tell her why. She would deserve to know that it is us, not her
"Yeah, I agree"
*knock knock*
"Are you alright?" She asks.
I shift and answer her, "yeah I'll be out in a minute." I dress quickly and join her in the main room.
"I've just finished making some soup and bread if you're hungry," she said serving up the food.
"Thankyou"
I sit at the small table by the window as she has her back to me at the stove. I let my eyes wander around at the shelves on the wall infront of her. They have jars filled with plants and powders mostly, some looked like they could be spices but I'm uncertain if that is correct. There is dried plants hanging in bunches from the ceiling in the corner as well.
There is also a myriad of different crystals and stones, but what catches my eye next keeps my interest. It's a painting of the Moon Goddess, she sits in field surrounded wildflowers and a white wolf sits at her right and a black wolf at her left.
It's breathtakingly beautiful, she has a soft smile on her face as looking out at the viewer. While she rests a hand on each wolf.
"Here you go, it's not much but it will warm you up"
I turn to her and give my thanks, she stares at me a moment then sits to eat her meal. The food is good and does warm me up.
"Where did you get that painting?" I ask curiously and she stops with her spoon half way to her mouth.
"I painted it, why?"
I can feel my eyes widen slightly and at my look she smiles, "as you probably have surmised already yes I'm a witch, but I have a good relationship with the Moon Goddess as well. From time to time we "talk" she is a wonderful person, she told me I would have a visitor on a rainy night soon. She asked that I take in and look after her hurt child. She didn't tell me the specifics on what has happened to you just that you needed someone who could help you. And give you a message, "when the time comes and you need a safe place to hide someone precious to you, look for Wisteria Lee." That's me by the way." She says then continues to eat.
"How do I know that this is true?" I say trying not to glare.
"She said the one you have been looking for will be... hold on a sec." She hops up and goes to a book shelf on the far wall. After rummaging for a second she brings a map and a crystal on a silver chain.
"GODDESS OF THE MOON.. GUIDE MY CRYSTAL TO THE LOCATION YOU WISHED TO SHOW YOUR CHILD," she says in a clear even voice.
To my astonishment the crystal begins to move, and she is standing perfectly still. A few seconds later the crystal stops, its pointing to Tacoma, Washington.
"The one you seek will be there tomorrow, I suggest you finish your meal and get some rest you have quite a bit of running to do tomorrow." Wisteria says as she moves her tools away from the table.
I watch as she cleanses them and puts them back where she had them before joining me at the table.
