Mar
At our usual hangout; the projects. Diamond street. The whole gang was there except Ro who was on his way at the moment. It was somewhat quiet with the kids still in school. With the exception of the ones who came to the conclusion that the streets were more important than school. Time will reveal their stupidity involving that thought process. By the looks of the sky it was going to rain. For some reason the rain made me think of Juice' brother being shot.
"I was talking to my aunt Pine. You know she always lecturing me when somebody come in the hospital shot." I said to the group.
"Mar, what's your point?" Pork asked. "Make this long story your size."
"Shut up and listen for a minute. She was telling me about this youngbul that got shot near parkside. Shotgun wound to the gut. She said it was a miracle that he lived. If the shotgun wasn't sawn off, the blast wouldn't of spread enough to spare his life."
"And!" Pork snapped impatiently.
"That was Juice brother. He alive. The nigga you shot! What you gonna do now?" I shot back.
"Call your aunt to see if she can tell you his condition and if he gave any statements." Pork responded
Ro pulled up in a BMW I never saw him in while we were talking.
"You got a new car?" I asked him when he got in the van.
"Naw, I robbed two chicks in K.O.P. I had one of their phones and didn't know. That's her car. She let me hold it."
"What? You going to jail cuz. I'm surprised she ain't get you when you gave back her phone. I'm assuming you did, if you got her car and you probably already hit. Is that who you left with last night? I thought you left in a car like that but y'all pulled off too quick and quiet." I asked Ro.
"Yeah, she cool. I ain't going to jail. Wassup with y'all?" Ro asked.
"Juice brother still alive. I'm going to get my aunt to check his condition." I replied.
"I gotta find this nigga Juice." Pork mumbled._______________________________________
JUICEIt killed me to see my little brother in the hospital. Shit bag. Catheter. IV in his arm. Tube in his nose. His condition was improving steadily. But, his scholarship was revoked. His basketball dreams were done.
"Reem, wassup bro?" I asked as he opened his eyes.
"Juice? About time you got down here."
"Everytime I come by, you sleep."
"It's these meds they givin' me."
"How you feel?"
"How you think? Like I got shot with a cannonball. I'm in pain. I'm ok though."
"I'm gonna find out who did this. I'm on they ass." I stated
"Naw, don't do that."
"What? You high?"
"I know who shot me. I saw them. They were in a grey van. Like the oldheads drive."
"A turtletop?"
"Yeah. I'm just happy to be alive. They took my scholarship."
"I heard. If I gotta pay for it myself you getting into college. And, them niggas gonna die."
"Are you listening? I said don't do that. Leave it alone. I ain't get me shot. They shot me because of something you did, not me. All I do is go to school and play ball. I might of smashed a few dudes girls but that's it. I took this for you. the least you can do is leave it alone for me. What if they hit Mom next? She can't survive this. You not thinking."
"And, what you don't see is, if I don't end this it will keep going. You don't know how this shit work. You ain't in it."
"But, I'm in the hospital because of it. You can end it another way Juice. Anybody else that get shot is your fault. I don't know what you did but, I pray you fix it fast. I'm gonna be here atleast another month."______________________________________
RO"I got a job for us tonight." I told everyone. "I gotta go drop this car off and pick this girl up from work. Meet me in the van around 8."
N.R. got in the BMW with me when the conversation concluded. I dropped him off at the gym. By 2:55 I was outside waiting for Fairuz. She was smiling when she exited her business and spotted the car. Opening the driver side door, she hopped in my lap and kissed me.
"I knew you'd show. That's precisely why I caught a cab to work." She said climbing to the passenger side and removing her shoes.
"How?" I asked before she kissed me again.
"Intuition. My gut told me."
"What if I had stole your car?'
"So? First off, I have insurance and gps on my car. Second, it was a gift, didn't pay for it."
"A $100,000 gift?"
"Yes. I'm daddies little girl. I see you like kissing."
"I like kissing you."
"Well why'd you stop?"
"I didn't wanna nut on myself."
"You made it through last night, you'll be fine. Oh gosh, I have a ton of work to do. Ugh!"
"You can do it at my place."
"Do you have Wi-Fi?"
"Wi-Fi, Sci-fy, all that. Satis-fy too."
"We'll see. Theres things I need from my place. Some other time, ok?'
"That's cool." I was a little disappointed, feeling spun.
"I'm not brushing you off Romain."
"You reading my mind?"
"No. Your facial expression changed. I need a shower and my chair that's all. I only use certain body products. Nothing that has a commercial touches my skin. And, I can't get anything done without my chair."
"Chair."
"Yes. It's the only way I can type for hours."
"It's friday. You're off tomorrow. Take a break."
"Tomorrow is the day I relax. Maybe a certain someone will give me a foot massage."
"Aww man, I hope they give me one too. Call them!"
"Ha, ha! I was referring to you, funny man."
"Of course I will. I'll give you a full body massage if you want."
"Remember you said that."
"You remember the body I'm talking about?"
"Mine."
"Exactly."
She convinced me to go to her place. I let her get to work so it wouldn't be a distraction while we were together.
