Puppet loosely strung || Mammon obey me!

You were sitting across the man you once believed to be a gentle, dumb, scummy and greedy second born, but now you didn't know who the man truly was. He was sitting across you, legs crossed, looking at you with a smug face.

His eyes were glowing, not with his usual blue... but with the color of gold, it was intimidating but also kinda cool in it's own way.

"Mammon..." you started "why are you pretending to be... well a..."

"Dumb, scummy bastard? Even though you have everyone wrapped around your finger?" He said mocking you "is that what you wanted to say?" He looks at you in a way that makes something obvious: he's looking down on you in some way; you don't know how but he is, his glare sends shivers down your spine. You know that the act he's been putting up is no longer present, you know that the real mammon is sitting in front of you and this... this is the first time you will actually meet him.

"Not exactly but yeah... that's what I meant." You answer trying to sound confident, you almost do a great job at doing that, however Mammon is way more experienced at this to not realize that it's a façade.

"Well then human, I will answer your questions. No payment needed!" He chuckled "I need someone to know anyway" he smiles "so, first of all! My act is simply a way to get my brothers to have an easier time hating and leaving me alone, and I don't want to worry about them trying to connect me with this shit Lucifer's calling family!" He chuckles a little "I've always known that I'm different from my family, and you may ask 'but Mammon what do ya mean?' Well kid, if I'm being honest," he looked you in the eyes, smiled and continued "life is like a big puppet show and everyone is connected by strings that keep them grounded..." he looks at the ground again "However! I freed myself from said strings, I don't feel guilt, regret or even bad for breaking the bond with my brothers! Life is long so why should I care if I wake up in a sewer, in some shit hole or in a luxurious bed?" He chuckled again "If I really wanted to, I would have taken money from every demon I encountered, because I'm capable of doing that with my greed powers, but I have money, and if I don't, then I steal it's really not that complicated!" he laughed ominously, it was kinda hot not gonna lie, but it was mostly creepy and gave off 'psychotic bitch' vibes.

You sighed heavily "Okay so Mammon, let me put myself in your shoes as a puppet loosely strung..." you start, you think to yourself that he's not normal but that's to be expected.

"Around me they were so confused, that a faulty man could have so much fun" he completed your thought .

"They read your smiles, nothing but teeth,"you stop for a moment further realizing how fake his personality actually is "they looked at you with pity first, then disbelief"

"Put yourself in my shoes as a puppet loosely strung, they may think they'd never choose to be the man that I've become." He puts his head in his palms looking at you with laughter in his eyes, that bastard is having fun.

"You never felt the need to conform... we get drunk or high to feel, what you've felt since you've fallen..." you look on the ground in disbelief.

He stands up and walks up to you. You look him in the eyes, he crouches to be at the same level as you because you're sitting in a particularly short chair, you wonder if it's in here so he doesn't feel as short while talking to other people...

He grabs your chin and places his thumb on your lips and puts his face a little closer to yours than it already was. You're sure that if someone'd walk in right now it would look like you were about to kiss.

You look into his eyes full of golden stars and galaxies, he whispers "you're tied to so many things you don't need to do! Just loosen your strings to feel more like me!" His voice slips into your head, it sounds so sweet, like honey but the true tone is much more seductive and evil than the golden eyes of the greed demon.

You push him away, it's not a strong push but it's enough for you to have room to breathe "Did you feel the weight of other's views? Or was their ignorance a source of fun?" Your voice is full of bittersweet annoyance and a bit of hatred.

"I hated the whispers in the street" he says through his teeth

"Do you oppose a greeting, pulling the rug beneath their feet?" You wait and then agree with what he said earlier "I'm tied to so many things I don't need to do I'll loosen my strings to feel more like you. " he looks at you, his eyes are narrowed you feel some sort of fondness coming from him. "In the past, you would have been seen as a family's disgrace," his smile fades for a second "Now they think you're putting on a brave face," he looks at you seemingly amused by the fact that you're actually figuring out the fucked up family relationship they share.

he opens his mouth but before he can say anything you continue. "They might fear that one day they'll wear your shoes... But you're the one who's laughing, you had nothing to lose." He lets out a lough letting you know that you're correct about this statement.

And then something hits you "They just couldn't see... that it was them needing you, not you needing them!" You realize that the demon standing in front of you is the key to the family holding together, he made himself the target so the others would unite over a common enemy "they just couldn't see... that a puppet loosely strung is something they would not want to be..."

He repeats what you said before "They just couldn't see that it was them needing me, not me needing them." He walks up to you "I was tied to so many things I didn't need to do, I loosened my strings to be more like... me" he hesitated at the last word but that didn't matter in the end and it all made sense he was making his family hate him so that he could be free. Such a cruel price to pay for freedom...

It was sad, almost pitiful, such a strong demon having to leave everything behind just to be free...
