I needed more gas before I could make it to school, so we went to a nearby gas station before going to school. The place was usually crowded, because of how popular of a road it was on, though it seemed to have fallen down to only a couple people all together. We made our debut, and got our gas paid for before running off to the school building. We barely made it in time, getting to our classes at 7:53, when I had actually noticed how many students there were. Barely a fifth of my class was at school, and those who were there seemed to be stuck in a form of shock. I don't think anybody was doing well that day, and I could barely believe that our math teacher was still at the school. After second period, a school assembly was called, and our substitutes, teachers, and the vice principal were all on the stage. "We know that a lot of people aren't at school..." started our music teacher, Mr. Boyle, "...and we're still on the search for many of our teachers." he continued to speak, up until the vice principal stepped in, and told him that he had said plenty. She continued on what he was talking about, but even I knew that something felt off. Terry was watching the door, and I couldn't tell why, until I spotted something in the distance behind a bush.

There was blood covering the wall, and beside it, I could see something, barely shining in the mass of smeared blood. I couldn't control what the teachers were talking about anymore, and when someone else saw me staring, a giant uproar began as they all saw the bloodied wall. Everybody began to turn pale as they heard or saw what was happening, even some of the teachers couldn't deal with it. The entire school started to go wild with who it could be, when Terry jumped up and ran out the door. I couldn't watch him go alone, so I ran after him telling him to stop, but before I could, he already did, and started walking back, with a tear in his eye. I was confused behind why, and curiosity overruled my logic. I walked towards the bloody wall, and behind the bush, I saw someone I hadn't seen for a couple days now. It was hard to tell from the face, as it had been ripped off, physically removed from every part of the head, along with a lot of the meat. I then checked the rest of the body, and was shocked, seeing the entire body was ripped open, almost like it was gutted. And lying beside the body was their left arm, dismembered from the rest of the body, held in their right, which is what I saw glinting at me from afar. It was a bracelet identical to the one I wore on my right wrist, the only difference was the half of the heart placed in the middle. It was Natalie, with her friendship bracelet still on her wrist as was mine. I didn't know how to feel as I looked at the endless corpse in front of me, though I knew it wasn't good. Some of the staff showed up behind the students who had gathered, and many of them were just as, if even more, shocked to find the mangled body than I. Many students threw up, and everybody was sent home immediately, as there was nothing else for us to do after seeing that. Terry came over to my truck again, and didn't even ask to get in when I started it up. We were the last of our group, and we didn't want to lose each other like we had lost everybody else.
