KEUNG DAIYU and her brother were born victims of the vicious cycle of poverty. With a deceased father and an uninvolved prostitute mother, living in the slums of Kowloon, Daiyu was better off not to have been born. In fact, she grew up wishing that this was not her life. She was four years old.
Her brother Keung Yulong hoped for the same, not only for himself but for his little sister. He could accept and live with being a victim of poverty. But he could not accept that for his little sister, Daiyu. So one night Keung Yulong made a promise. He held his pinky out to Daiyu and promised he would get them out of there to get a better life for them. A promise, sealed with a touch of their thumb.
NOT EVERYONE was lucky enough to have a second chance in life. It was something Daiyu would be eternally gratefully for until the day she died. She promised herself that she would not live this life with any regrets. That she would work hard, get rich, settle down and never be a victim of poverty ever again. But life was complicated. It was not as simple as words on a paper. Now as a 26-year-old woman, Daiyu wonders where and when did she stuff up her second life this badly. Was it when she befriended Sano Emma and Tachibana Hinata? Perhaps it was that kind-hearted boy from that gang. The gang being the infamous Tokyo Manji Gang.
Daiyu is certain about two things: she should've never involved herself with the Tokyo Manji Gang and she should've never left Kowloon with her brother.
If only she could turn back time . . .
