Parting Ways [Mimi's POV]

I'm sure everyone took Kona's confession by surprise, it seems no one's been talking to him at all. Even I have been avoiding him a bit after his confession.

I wake up early on a Sunday, and finally decide to talk to him again, in light of everything that's happened. I go up to where he's been staying and find his room a mess. Books from his shelf were either missing or on the floor, bloody bootprints, and a torn piece of paper right in front of the door.

"I'm sorry."

I run up to his window. Surely he hadn't run away? He can't have, I just got him back, and now I'll lose him again.. I look to the path of the bootprints. They lead to the window. The bootprints continue and lead to a dark forest... This is what he meant back then (Author's note: This is referring to when Kona was covering something up about 'sneaking out' to a forest for something).

A long walk follows. I've never been so worried.. Where is he now? And I'm not even going to ask about where the blood came from...

The prints abruptly stop at a large boulder. I look around. Surely he'd be here somewhere then? Maybe he'd taken off his boots?

I continue to look for him. I start calling him, but sure enough, I get no answer.

After what felt like hours of searching, nothing. No sign of him. It's as if he just.. Disappeared.. (Mimi only looked for 46 minutes.)

I give up and decide to walk back. Halfway through my journey, everything starts to go dark. It's 7 in the morning, surely this isn't normal..?

I stop. I've been stopped. By a hand, a human hand. Much larger than Player's hand... I turn around, to see a tall figure dressed in a purple overcoat, a pink bowtie, a purple tophat which clashed with an orange flower, and a distorted smile.

His face is made up of rough, battered fabric rather than skin. He looks, unlike any animal I've ever seen and looks drastically different from Player. What is he?

"We meet at last, Mimi. I've been particularly fixated on your lot for a long time now." The tall man says.

"Wh.. That sounds wrong- I.. Who are you??" I demand.

"Wow, you really are dumber than you look and should be." He sneers, "You've heard of me so many times. My description is quite clear. You might be familiar with what your friend said about me?"

"Are you saying... You're... You're TIO..?" I say, my eyes widening with shock.

"Bingo. Took longer than your friend did. He could put two and two quicker than you ever could. But let's put all that aside now.. We have business to attend to." He starts pacing around me, and before long, he starts speaking again.

"Mimi, your friend, Kona. He's gone through so much for your sake and the lives and safety of your friends from.. What was it you called it..? 'The Safe Place', if I'm not wrong. You've gotten great help from him. Too bad you won't be seeing him anymore..."

"Wh... You.. You let go of him now, you freak.." I demand, trying to hide the tone of fear in my voice.

"Rather desperate to see him again, are you?" He sneers. "WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE??" I shout.

He stops walking, turns to look at me and smiles widely. "Of course. Would you do me a favour in return?" He says, offering his hand.

(Author's note: Lord this sounds weird, er- He wants Mimi to shake his hand to seal the deal.)

"Sure, whatever... I do what you ask, you leave Kona and my friends alone." I say, shaking his hand as violently as I can.

"Sounds fair. Well, go ahead... He's been waiting." He gives me another wide smile and steps aside, revealing Kona, wrapped in black vines, unable to move or speak, but still able to give a pointless struggle to get out.

He notices me and stops moving, and it does him a great deal; the vines let him go. They slither off him in a snake-like fashion and disappear once they hit the ground. I run up to him, nearly choking him with a tight hug.

"I'm so glad you're here!! Are you okay?" I say, finally letting go of him. "Forget me, did he do anything to you?" He asks. It takes a moment for me to look away from his right arm, which has a deep cut that doesn't seem to be bothering him.

"No.. He just offered me a deal.. And then... Showed me where you are.." I say, still staring at his right arm.

"This is all my fault... If I'd have just stayed put and... I'm so sorry, I ran away like a coward, not thinking of what'd happen, or how'd you and the others would feel, I.. I was being so selfish..." He says, with a guilty expression.

"You weren't.. Now let's get out of here, I-It's really dimly lit.." I say, trying to pull him from where he's standing. But he won't budge.

"You're forgetting your end of the deal, Mimi," TIO says suddenly. I turn around. "H-Huh..?"

"A fair deal is when both do each other a favour, and you need to do your part... If you want me to leave Kona and your friends alone, well, you'll have to leave them and join me," he says briskly.

"What?? I- I can't just leave them!!" I yelp.

"Oh, but of course, you can. If you want to be able to see him. Tell you what, I'll be a bit more generous with you and leave The Safe Place alone either way. You join me and I ensure Kona's safety. If you don't, he'll have to go." He says with a note of annoyance in his voice.

He holds up his hand to make an agreement.

"What'll you do to him if I don't?" I ask, staring at his hand and then him.

"As I said, if you join me he'll be safe. If you don't, he'll have to go." He says angrily.

"NO, NEVER!! I'D RATHER LIVE IN FEAR WITH MY FRIENDS THAN HAVE TO JOIN YOU!!" I shout, not realising what I've done.

His grimace turns into a wide smile. He says with no note of pity nor anger, "Then you leave me no choice."

He snaps his fingers, and the vines shoot from the ground. They slowly surround Kona, trapping him and making him unable to move, trapping him in his current position.

Panic.

"K-KONA!!" I shout, trying desperately to pull the vines off his ankles.

"This was bound to happen... Mimi, promise me you'll keep the others safe. Never let them out of your sight, no matter what happens. You need to keep them safe. He'll be after them, and I leave it to you to ensure their safety..." He says, pulling me up and mustering a weak smile.

"So.. So you're just going to... To stay here?... Frozen..?" I ask, feeling hot tears trickling down my cheeks.

"Whatever happens to me won't be pleasant. But just know we'll see each other again, that's a promise." He says as the vines crawl up to the level of his knees.

"Kona, please, I just got you back, I can't lose you again!!" I shout, desperately thinking of a way to get us both back to The Safe Place. He gives me one last embrace, one last apology... And he's gone...

The thin vines wrap around him and slowly turn from a sick purplish-black colour to a beautiful bright green, bright blue and pink hydrangeas sprout from parts of the vines.

The sky turns bright again, I see trees forming all around me. Neither Kona nor TIO are anywhere to be seen. I start dashing back in the direction of The Safe Place, climb back inside Kona's window, and run up to tell the first person I run into about what happened.. I'm worried we might have to ask for outside help, but the last time that happened wasn't too successful...

So... I was intending to make this a bit sad, but so far, it isn't. A chapter explaining why Kona's missing through Mimi's eyes! Hoo boy. 1000+ words. I'm not too pleased with myself though, this was a bit disappointing, though I hope you enjoyed!

And yes, Kona had the same thing that happened to Budgey happen to him! Craft your own theories about that, or maybe once it'll really needs explaining, I'll spill it.

However, that's all I've got for now. I'll probably make a small explanation about this phenomenon later on. Once again, I hope you enjoyed!! :D
