Disabled Heroes (OCs)

[A/N: Okay, so I've gotten into 'serious ' worldbuilding for a while now, and I've been trying to develop this fleshed-out fantasy world (ofc with a lot of inspiration from the Fable franchise cos it kinda has that vibe I'm going for, sorta)  and since I love character designing, I started with the characters first, and then I ended up getting attached to this pair of twins; Avo and Qiu. 

I just wanna explain some basic info about them for this to make sense, since I suddenly had the urge to write about them. Okay, so imagine a cyclops without a neck. They've just got floating heads. That's Avo. Qiu isn't. He doesn't have an eye. He just has one big creepy mouth in replacement of his eye. That is their little 2-Player Game-esque dynamic. Avo can see but is a mute. Qiu can speak but is blind. They have what the other doesn't because of birth defects, thus the two of them need to work together to get through the day. 

I thought that it'd be nice that there are disabled characters. Not that being disabled is the nicest thing in the world and is definitely not to be joked about, but at the same time, there aren't many disabled characters, and we need more of em because yes. Their job is being the king's captains of the royal guards. They're like always by his side, and are the co-leaders of the nation after the king.

Think of Amaya from The Dragon Prince. She's deaf but she's badass, the queen's sister, and is the captain of the royal guard. Her disability isn't letting her down, and that's what I'm trying to do here with Avo and Qiu.

Aside from being captains, they're also wholesome brothers. They always protect each other lol

Also Avo is 'older' but Qiu likes to claim he's the one who's older. Avo doesnt mind it cos he's a shy boi and acts more like a lil bro anyway. It fills Qiu's ego anyway lmao]

Another day in the beautiful continent known as Tervana. King Luhlier wasn't present today. He was in a meeting with the 7 Nations Council in Corus across the Aykawan Sea. But even so, his most trusted and loyal subjects - Captains Avo and Qiu. A disabled pair of twins who have rised the ranks and proved themselves immensely more than their birth defects. They were just finishing their orders to their men, commanding to spread out to guard the castle in the absence of his majesty. 

And as of the moment, they found themselves standing in the throne room, each of the twins taking a side of the throne. Silence overcame them, only before Avo began tapping the side of the throne. Qiu slightly turns his head towards to the right, where his twin brother stood. "What is it?" He asked. Avo tapped again, tapping more, tapping in fancy Blithean morse code.

"What?!" Qiu gasps. "What're you even talking about??" 

More tapping could be heard coming from Avo. Qiu frowned as he placed a hand on the other side of the throne, gingerly making his way to his brother. "No... Avo, why would you think that? Of course they won't be trash talking about us!"

More taps. Qiu grumbled. "Stop it, okay! We're not..." There was a short and uneasy pause. "We're not gonna be thrown out, okay?" He took hold of every surface he could until he managed to take hold of his twin brother's hand. "Luhlier loves us... He was the one who saw the potential in us, which is why we're here, standing on the sides of his own throne, commanding men below us, and instructing new recruits that came even all the way from Evonia." 

He caressed his brother's cheeks which made the latter cheeks light up a little. "Yeah, sure... The rest of the council may not particularly like us, even thinking that Luhlier's insane for putting broken people like us, but that doesn't matter! The council can't do nothing 'cause Luhlier cares about us, and... That's all that matters." He said. He placed a small kiss on his forehead. "And if 'it' does happen, we'll still be together. I promise."

There was a short pause, and Qiu doesn't want to admit it but he suddenly became anxious of what Avo's reaction would be. He flinched a little as he felt Avo's arms suddenly flinging around him, wrapping around his body. He felt some tapping on his back. He chuckled a little as he decided to do the same, and hugged him back.

"I love you too, Avo."
