Our travel seemed to be slow and long, we had barely left my home but as we started to make ground we made it to unfamiliar territory. I take a deep breath, I knew I had to let it go, but it was hard for me. We walk through the woods a light dreary rain pattering on the earth floor. Clay walked ahead and I followed behind as we tramped through unknown territory. I step wrong part of the path and ended up getting stuck in softer part of the path. It gushed up my leg as my foot sunk. I grimace before pulling out of the mud hole. Flash backs of the time I fell down in that cave made me shudder. It was now vacant memory that I had put behind me. Clay had turned to see if I needed help, but once I got my foot out he turned around and we moved along. Clay hadn't spoken to me all dat. I was scared to be left with my thoughts, I needed something to occupy myself. I speed up until I'm next to Clays side.
"so, do you know where we're going?" I ask dream trying to sound awake and happy. Clay didn't answer. My smile fades slightly, He must've not heard me, I think. "Clay?" I touch his shoulder and he flinches like I had just woken him up and looks at me.
"Sorry, what?" He murmurs, his voice raspy, he coughed and cleared it.
"Do you have a plan? I never really asked, I just need to feel reassured you know," I mumble, sheepishly grabbing my arm.
"Of course, I know some people, granted they don't like me—BUT I'm sure you can convince them." He said not really paying attention as he studied his hand.
"Convince them? How am I convince them? I'm a stranger—I thought you...you lied to me." I gasp, I felt broken and angry.
"No—George, I didn't. What I told you was true. they will let you stay, I just might not be able too as well.." he says rubbing the back of his neck before groaning and putting his hands to his face. "I meant to tell you." He said, guilt thick in his voice.
I felt angry but it faded, "why didn't you just tell me?" I say crossing my arms, and staring off into the trees.
"I don't know, I didn't want to leave you, and I know that's selfish and I'm stupid for doing it "
I look at him, eyes wide, he sat on a tree stump, face in his hands. Like a sad puppy with his tail between his legs. My gaze softened and I give him a half smile, before walking towards him. I put a hand on his shoulder and he looks up at me. "that's actually kinda sweet..." I tease lightly. "A little wrong that you didn't tell me, but, sweet nonetheless." He seemed to relax. "I'm sorry George.."
I sigh, "it's okay, we'll figure this out Together. In the meantime..." I put hand, he looks at it before taking it. I pull him up, "wanna do something cool?" I ask him. He Tilts his head slightly, waiting for me to spill it.
"Clayton, I'm not going to lie...but I haven't been entirely honest either." I say laughing a little. "I'm not...exactly human..." I say, I stop almost regretting, but I got this far no turning back. Clay didn't say anything just stared at me. I look down at my hands. "I don't know what I am." I close them into fists. I look back at Clay and he's not looking at me, I walk over to him, reaching out to touch his shoulder. "Clay?" He looked at me, I wish I could see what his face looked like through that mask. I look away shyly, "I'm sorry, I just, I know it's weird that I'm not like you." I murmur. Clay grabbed both my shoulders and looked straight at me, "George your not weird, your like me George." He grabbed my hand putting it on his heart, it pounded loudly and fast. "See." He put my hand to my heart, I look up at him eyes sparkling but I look back down. "If we are really doing this. No more lies. Show me. I'm ready."
Clay nodded, before grabbing the tip of his mask, I stare mouth taped slightly as he took of his mask. And he was right...
Pretty green eyes, soft skin and dirty blonde hair. This was the man behind the mask. in fact, he was just a Boy.
He was just like me.
(FYI, I will be changing Dream to "Clay" instead because Dream and dream 😴 it gets too confusing.)
