I was walking back to class from the office with Caleb. And yes he was still being a complete douche hitting on all the other girls. I mean, really? Just really? We kept walking when Caleb stopped and checked out a girl with dirty blonde hair that fell perfectly over her shoulders. She had a pretty face with dark blue eyes and a skinny body. I could tell by her clothes that she was rich. I wasn't no rich girl, but I did have style. This girl was rocking the top brands and I could tell by the "shopping" I've done that basically everything she was wearing was expensive. When I say shopping I mean looking on clothing sights and gawking at the prices, no real buying involved.
"Hey Summer." Caleb winked, an obviouse attempt at flirting. The girl turned around from her group of friends and rolled her eyes groaning, but immediately covered up with a fake smile.
"Yes Caleb? What would you like from my life today?" she sneered.
"Just wanted to say hey. Damn you're feisty!" he grinned. This didn't seem to impress her at all.
"Don't you have a class to go to or something?" she whined.
"Yeah, but I got let out to show Anna,"
"Amy." I coughed.
"I mean Amy find the office." her eyes travelled from him to me in a heartbeat. I felt awkard all of a sudden and tried to put on comfortable smile.
"Hi." I said giving a small wave.
"Oh my god! Are you from like Texas or something?" A high-pitched blonde standing beside her asked. It was such a stupid question it almost made me mad.
"Yeah, I just moved here."'Summer shot the blonde a look with a smirk. She walked up to me until we were only a foot apart.
"Hi Anna! I'm Summer." I bit my tongue as her whole possey giggled, even Caleb was laughing.
"Its Amy actually." I said through gritted teeth trying to keep my cool even though I felt a million swear words running through my head.
"Oh sorry! Oh and love the boots and all, but here and California we mostly wear flip-flops. Its just so much more comfortable!" Ok that's it! Nobody ever bad mouth's my boots!
"Yeah, well where I'm from you'd look stupid in those Birkenstock's and personally even here you still do." and with that I flipped my hair over my shoulder and strutted down the hall back to Mrs. Baker's class not even bothering to wait up for Caleb.
The bell rang and I was so relieved to get out of this hell hole it almost hurt. As you can tell today sucked. It felt as if everyone's eyes were glued on me everywhere I went. The giggling and snarky remarks didn't help either. You have no idea how hard it is to hear giggles ring out after you pass and the few people who did approach all having smart ass comments like "Howdy partner!". I practically ran home. Luckily I only lived 10 minutes away. I ran across the boardwalk infront of the beach. Yes, my parents bought a beach house. Once again Summer's comment rang out in my head again and I started to full out sprint. Unfortunately my boot heel got jammed imbetween the boardwalk slats and I went sprawling forward. I almost broke down right there and then. How could this be happening?! A guy who looked to be about my age jogged up to me. He wasn't to bad looking at all with his chiseled body and tanned skin, brown hair matted down from surfing.
"Are you ok? That was quite a spill!" He bent down so he was at my eye level. I brushed myself of and examined my hands covered in scrathes and cuts.
"Yea, I'm fine."
"Here," he offered me a hand and I took it tentatively scared that it would hurt my hands. They were pretty banged up. He helped me up and slowly examined my face.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine honestly."
"If you insist. I'm Tyson by the way, but you do know," he said pointing at my boots "cowgirl boots don't belong on the beach." He smiled obviously thinking it was a joke. I on the other hand didn't find it as funny. Something inside snapped and I stormed off even further down the boardwalk completely tuning out Tyson calling after me. What is wrong with this place, I thought to myself as the first tear maneuvered its way down my cheek and neck. In a matter of minutes I was home and I slammed the door behind me.
"How was your first day at school?" My Ma called. I ignored her too and stormed into my room so she didn't see me cry. I jumped on my bed and pulled my knees to my chest automatically pulling out one of the few things I did unpack. My photo album. I flipped through the pages of photos from back home. I lingered on the ones of me and Hunter. The one of us walking through a wheat field, ones of us laughing and smiling, the ones of us back home. Home, I thought, this isn't a home, it's just a house.
