Remi-

I look over my shoulder quickly until I notice the coast is clear, no one is looking my way. It's a tiny CVS pharmacy store four blocks from my house and everyone knows everyone here. I should have gone into the city for this! If Jessica tells Ezra I'm fucked! I bite my thumbnail and look back and forth at the aisle. It's too early for anyone here to be awake. Las Vegas is such a party city and no one wakes up until noon unless you work. Well, my shift starts at 9 so if I'm going to do it, now's the time. I feel sweat start to form on my neck and now my black shirt is clinging to my torso...fuck! I don't have time to go home and take another shower. Ezra will definitely notice. I'll be fine, I'll just splash my face with cool water or something. I swallow back the spit starting to build up in my mouth and remind myself that I am not nauseous. I am not sick. I am fine.

I should have had Mia do this.

I take another look around and make sure no one is looking at me, grabbing a random pregnancy test. My hands are already numb. You are being so stupid Remi, you are being such a fucking drama queen! Nothing is wrong and this is just going to confirm it! I blow out some air and rock on my tip toes back and forth, trying to gain the courage. Just go to the cashier, yes the cashier that went to high school with your husband, yes the one that spreads everyone business around here...the one that will definitely ask your husband... Fuck!!

Should I slip it under my waistband or something? Do I want to go to jail and tell the cop the reason why I stole $11 pregnancy tests and explain to Mia why she will be on mid shift by herself making lattes all day long? I'd rather deal with the cop's wrath than hers. I shutter. So what the fuck do I do?

I hear the door chime go off and my skin goes cold. It's now or never. I look to the left and holy hell I see an Angel. Theresa, the elderly pharmacy manager opened up her register, thank god!

Before I see who even entered the store I rush over to the pharmacy corner, gently placing the test on the counter.

"You are here early!" The elderly woman adjusts her glasses on her nose picking up my purchase. "You doing okay today hun?"

"Wonderful, couldn't be better," I force myself to grin, rocking back and forth on my feet. Please hurry up!

"Such a beautiful day out today," she slowly pulls the gun out and scans my box, slowly putting it back. I feel my eye twitching.

"I think after work me and Mike will tend to our garden. The grandkids are coming over on Saturday! It's going to be a busy week for us," she places it in the bag.

"You got your Rewards card hun?"

"No ma'am!"

"Why don't you go ahead and put in your telephone number?"

"No thanks, please," I am practically begging. I can't have any ties to this purchase!

"It'll be 12.57 deary," she smiles and I hand her $13.

"Keep the change Theresa!" I grab the bag and take off, walking quickly to the front. I hear her say something but I wave her off, trying to get out as quickly as possible. I dodge through the displays and I see that door!

"Little Remi Leith is that you?"

Fuck.

I stop in my tracks and turn, smiling at Jessica. "Hey, um Jess, you doing alright?"

She flips her chestnut hair back and smiles with her overly fake white teeth.

"Amazing! Absolutely amazing! Say, I haven't seen Ezzie in so long! How is he doing? Are you treating my man good?"
