Chapter Eight
Mo
Every hour that passed bred a new level of intoxication. Secrets flowed as freely as the alcohol and the room was abuzz. Elena and Changbin, though very drunk themselves, were thankful not to be the evening's hot topic. The other Haus Impartit power-couple maintained the spotlight until it was savagely ripped from them. A new duo had come to reign supreme.
Somehow amidst the dancing and games, Han and Lee Know lost any inhibitions they once held toward each other. It started as holding hands under the table and quickly progressed to more obvious affection. The guys had always believed that there was something going on, and intertwined on the dance floor they confirmed every suspicion.
"That could be us, you know?" Changbin leaned over, whispering in the mistress's ear. Feeling hot and woozy, under the spell of a strong spirit, she popped his arm playfully. Equally as charmed, he delighted in her giggling.
All night long they peacocked about, coy and avoidant interactions often gave way to outright flirting. Still, even in their drunken states, they watched for prying eyes. Unable to speak to him one-on-one, Elena watched for Hyunjin like a hawk. Though her affections belong to another, it didn't mean she did not care for him.
Pulling Han into an impassioned kiss, Minho had gathered quite the audience. Everyone looked on in awe as the pair unleashed years of suppressed longing in the middle of the great room.
"It's about damn time!" Mo's voice rose about the cheers and whistles while Chan gawked like a testosterone-fueled teen. Secluded in the back of the room, Chanbin led the mistress into the darkest corner.
Back against the wall, she looked up at him daringly. He read the hunger in her eyes with ease, lowering his mouth to the base of her neck. Her body broke out in chills before his teeth ever took hold of her. Starting around the clavicle, he worked his way up. Everytime she anticipated another bite, warm lips would caress her flushed skin.
Just when he thought she was under his control, Elena pushed at his chest and darted around him. When the lights flicked on, the rapper realized the reason for her hasty actions. The music had been paused and all that could be heard was the pitiful wretchings of the maknae. The eldest three sobered up instantly, rushing to the center of the room. Mo doted on Jeongin, rubbing his back and offering the boy a glass of water. Chan, refusing to let the mistress clean up the mess, grabbed some towels from the bar.
From the sidelines, the rest of the guys watched on with concern. Elena approached the boys and delegated responsibility to Changbin.
"I need you to take the others to the kitchen and get them something to eat. Make sure they drink plenty of water too." He followed along like a soldier taking orders. Another side of her had been revealed as she rattled off instructions. Perhaps it was the alcohol, but at that moment her concern almost felt maternal.
Chris got Jeongin to his feet, carefully escorting him over to Changbin who dutifully took control from there. One by one everyone filed out, calling it a night. Approaching Mo, he outstretched his arms to them. Though still a little tipsy, they could tell the boozy buzz had faded into exhaustion.
"Poor Roo," they coddled, "let's get you to bed."
The leader didn't move, remaining glued to the barkers embrace. Doing their best to decipher the mumbling, they couldn't understand his half-hearted protest. Chan nuzzled his face into the crook of their neck allowing the words to become clear.
"Can I stay with you tonight?"
"Yes, but there's something I need to tell you first."
Having agreed to hear them out, the two held hands as they made the short hike back to their wing. The bedroom was dark, only a strand of string lights glowed overhead.
