I sat on the cold bus seat hoping the heat in the bus would magically start working. Molly, my best friend, sat beside me rambling on and on about how I didn't have a date to prom.
"Jordan you are definitely going to win prom queen but you have to have a date or someone else will win. Jordan, Jordan. Are you even listening."
"Molly, don't worry I don't even want to go."
"What do you mean you don't even want to go."
I walked off the bus and walked to my locker Molly calling out my name.
"You have to go, and besides I heard Blake was going to ask you to prom."
"Ugh, I don't want to go with him he's such a snob and a jerk."
"Every girl in school is dying to go with him, besides if you date him you will definitely get prom queen."
"Molly your the one who's going on and on about prom queen. Why don't you date him and get the stupid crown yourself. Wasn't Blake going with Quinn anyway."
"Quinn broke it off because he was hitting on you."
"Well that was his first mistake. I got to get to class. See you at lunch Molly."
"Just think about it."
I walked down the crowded hallway trying to get to my pre-calculus class. Yep believe it or not the most popular girl in school is actually a honors student.
"Hey Jordan."
"Hey Blake, listen I can't talk now but maybe at lunch."
"Yeah sounds good."
I continued walking down the hallway finally getting to Mr. Gregory's class.
"Ok I hope you all have your assignment done because today we are having a pop quiz."
Many of the students groaned not wanting to take the quiz. I sunk back in my seat. The assignment last night was easy but Mr. Gregory's pop quizzes were tough.
"You have until the bell rings. Good luck."
Fourth period finally passed and now it was lunch time. Blake was waiting at the doorway and so was Molly. I headed over to Molly who instantly called over Blake.
"Molly what are you doing."
"I'm getting you a date to prom."
"Hey Jordan, hey Molly."
"Hey Blake so I heard you didn't have a date to prom yet."
"Molly can I have a word with Blake, you go sit at our table."
"Ok then."
Molly walked into the lunch room smiling back at me and giving me a thumbs up.
"Well you have an interesting friend there."
"You could say that again."
We both chuckled. Blake led me out of the school and to a picnic table near the Pokémon hunters.
"Well Jordan I was wondering if you had a date to prom."
"Well, I wish I could say yes but sadly no date yet."
"Well would you like to go to Prom with me."
"No thanks."
"Wait, did you just say no."
"Oh don't worry Blake there is a whole school full of girls who want to go to prom. It shouldn't be hard to find another date. Bye."
I stood up leaving Blake in utter disbelieve. I walked into the lunch room Molly staring at me.
"So what happened tell me tell me!!"
"Nothing happened."
Molly stared at me, her mouth dropped.
"What do you mean nothing happened."
"Well he just asked me to go to prom but."
"What did you say."
"Well, I may have said no."
"YOU WHAT."
"Molly, stop shouting."
"Why did you do that."
"I didn't like him."
"Ugh your so complicated."
We sat in silence the rest of the lunch period. I walked down the hallway books in my hand thinking about Blake. A figure slapped my books out of my hand. Before I could see who it was I was pushed to the ground and there standing over me was Blake.
"You're going to regret saying no."
Molly walked up to me helping me up.
"Blake what's wrong with you."
"Oh shut the fuck up Molly."
Molly went quiet and Blake walked down the hallway. We didn't say a word to each while picking up my belongings.
"Molly are you ok."
"I should be asking you that."
"Yeah I'm fine but are you ok."
"I'm fine."
"Ok well let's get our stuff and go get our nails done for prom."
"I thought you weren't going."
"I'll go for you."
Molly gave me a ginormous hug and we both went to our lockers grabbed our things and left the school.
