Unrequited [Tanaka Ryunosuke x Reader ]

Chapter One

The bell rang throughout the school preparing for the upcoming lunch period. You were grabbing your things including your snacks and headed outside to meet up with your best friend until you saw Tanaka sulking on the stairs. You decided to make her wait to see what the reason that caused him to be in a sour mood. You figured he was sulking over Kiyoko the manager who he had a massive crush on not paying any attention to him. It happens pretty frequently and as a friend you were always the shoulder to cry on or at least listen to his complaining about her.

"What happened Tanaka-kun?" You took a seat next to the boy's arms covered his face, and he lifted his head with a dejected expression.You waited patiently before he finally spoke up though it sounded a bit muffled. "I can't you. Speak up a bit, please."

"She-She ignored me," Tanaka plopped his head back to the previous position. You heard him mumbled, "She didn't even acknowledge me."

You internally sighed wondering what approach that your friend took this time besides Kiyoko was a  bit aloof when it came to guys that were attracted to her. It seemed to be that she wasn't focused on relationships at this time though she needs someone on the same wavelength to catch her interest.  "How did you go about it this time?"

He reluctantly raised his head back up looking a bit sheepish remember the during what had happened you rose a brow in question waiting you answer. "Noya and I tried to get a hug from her but ended up crashing to the ground. I tried to compliment her with her looks by telling her she's sexy, and she ran."

You looked at him with a poker face,"I'm going to be completely honest here.No woman wants to be referred to as 'sexy'. Maybe after you know date her then you could but try to be subtle with her."

Tanaka looked you blankly, and you sighed from seeing he doesn't get what you meant you explained, "Have you ever tried calling her beautiful or tried to have a regular conversation with her? Doing something maybe other yelling your affections toward Kiyoko-san loudly."

You jumped a little startled at Tanaka's sudden movement that had him leaning over a bit into your personal space. Inwardly you fought the urge to keep the heat from rising to your cheeks sensing the emotions you felt towards him came out onto the surface.

He held desperate expression on his face then grabbed your hands pleaded, "Oi, [Name]-chan! Please help me get close to Kiyoko-chan!"

You put your hands on his shoulders pushing him back somewhat trying to regain your personal space back along with your composure too. You could feel your heartbeat wanting to leap out of your chest. It was beating loudly. "A-alright, Tanaka-kun! I'll help just give me some space okay."

"WOOHOO!" Tanaka jumped enthusiastically giving a fist pump in excitement. You deadpanned expression it usual for him to change his mood first sulking then to unbridled confidence the next you felt him tug you up by your wrist, "Let's go, [Name]-chan! Operation: To get  Kiyoko-chan to be my girl!"

You tried to jerk your wrist back groaning in annoyance, "Don't pull me, Tanaka-kun! I can walk y'know."

He had no idea where the both of you were going. You tried to tug your wrist from his grasped and managed to slip out making him stop to question you, "What's wrong?"

You sighed, "Tanaka-kun, I understand you want to start the operation but I need to eat my lunch, and we have class soon. We can start the plan tomorrow, okay?"

"Oh, okay." Tanaka tried not to sound down from your comment, and you patted him just to make him feel better."Don't worry. We can start the operation..um, Kiyoko-san to be your girl or whatever you called it tomorrow."

Tanaka grinned from hearing your plan with him to help steal the third year's heart. You could do much to help him getting the girl of his dreams because his happiness was something important to you. I can do it! Tanaka deserves someone to love just as much as anyone else.

You waved him goodbye and walked towards your spot where your friend Miu Wakane, who was sitting third row in the middle desk waiting for you to take the empty spot next to her. You took out your bento listening to Miu, "Was that Tanaka?"

You nodded while picking up a red grape popping it in your mouth lazily ignored the suspicious stare Miu gave. You gave her a hand waved dismissively of her suspicious stare, "It not a big deal Miu-chan. Anyway, what's going on with you?"

Miu sent you a look of skepticism then scoffed at your effort to change the subject, "Not a big deal? [Name]-chan you can't expect me to believe that, and did you confess it's about time-"

You quickly clamped a hand over mouth putting a finger to you lips spoke quietly. "Shhh, Miu!"

You could hear her muffling behind your hands and removed your hands from her mouth, "So you haven't told him yet?"

"No, I haven't told Tanaka, Miu. So please drop it." You gave her warning look she went over with you so many times that you lost count, but at the same time you understood Miu's reasons for hounding you about it.  You valued how things with you and Tanaka were now besides the awkward emotions that would be brought up. It was not worth risking your friends to put your selfish feelings on the line which you were good with everything now.

"Seriously, [Name]-chan you can't just hold your feelings in it's not healthy to do, and you'll get hurt." Your friend scolded you for keeping your feelings from Tanaka.

You sighed a bit annoyed of hearing her scolding for the last thousand times you had heard of it. It was normal for Miu to scold you from time to time when you tried to hide your feelings. You tried to sound appreciative of her motherly advice, "I appreciate it, Miu. But I don't need the advice. "

"Why is that?"

"I've decided to do something else for him." You smiled at your friend while she looked at you curiously  wondering what else there was for you to do. "He's my friend that's why. I don't expect anything else."

"Fine but don't say I didn't warn you, [Name]," Miu spoke with a serious manner to make sure you fully understood what you were getting into with Tanaka. After all, it was your choice to go about this the way you wanted. Miu couldn't help but worry about you, and she was surprised that Tanaka didn't see your true feelings for him.
