2: stars don't shine
"Shushu! Play with me!"
"I can't."
"Why not?~"
"... are you blind and can't see the numerous work books I have on my desk or are you just plain stupid?"
"Tsk tsk tsk when are you going to respect your elder brother?"
"The day someone tricks you just because it's you."
"... but that'll never happen."
"That's the point."
.
.
"The Zenin Clan?"
Gojo Ieyasu lead the way up the steps leading to the Zenin Clan, Shusei following behind him be a few steps. "Yes," said Ieyasu. "From now on, one of your responsibilities is to maintain a connection with all three clans. Your elder brother, Satoru, will be too occupied with other things."
Shusei remained silent, already knowing what this father of his would say next. "In the future, the well-being of the clan will rest on your shoulders, Shusei."
Clan... what is your clan supposed to do with me? Oh, right, I plan on burning it to the ground. Shusei's expression lightened up upon thinking about the future when the clan would become his. Don't worry, father of mine. Just like how you pushed mommy to the edge, I'll lead your clan to the pits.
Soon, Shusei found himself in the Zenin's clan hall.
There were many people there with only him and his father from the Gojo Clan.
How... arrogant was this. With no guards, none even from the shadows, Shusei could see the way Ieyasu held himself in superiority.
What... an idiot.

Zenin Naoya grew up believing that he was the best of the best, only second to Zenin Toji. He was showered with praises the moment he was born and not a day passes by where no one tries to get on his good side.
With praises like that, how could Naoya have low self-esteem? He believed in his skills and hardwork, believed that he would certainly be the future head of the Zenin Clan.
After all, the rest of his relatives were incompetent trashes.
One day, his father told him that they would be welcoming the heir and patriarch of the Gojo Clan.
Obviously, Naoya expected to see that Satoru with a stick up in his ass. He never expected to see a boy whose aura was world's apart from that haughty bastard.
"What's a rat doing in our clan?" Naoya blurted out in an instant even before that kid take his seat. Silence rang in the hall as that pair of earth toned eyes glanced at him. Naoya sneered, seeing such a face riddled with innocence. "Those uninvolved should stay out of this meeting."
Ieyasu opened his mouth to speak, to correct Naoya that Satoru was not the heir but the child by his side. However, a quiet yet steady voice beat him to the punch.
"Then, should I return your words back to you?" Bright and clear eyes stared right into Naoya, causing him to feel like he'd been shocked by a spark. "It's guaranteed that I am the heir of my clan; what about you? I've heard there are older and more capable people above you."
His eyes turned into crescents, his features becoming more delicate than they were at first. "So, I suggest that you don't get too ahead of yourself, Zenin Naoya."
