Words Unspoken
Chapter 7-
Waking up with John gone, I felt a little sad. I hope he doesn't do anything reckless. Getting off of my bed in a daze, still half asleep, I went over to my mirror and looked at my cheek. After I was satisfied that there were no marks from John, I went out of my room and down the stairs. I found my mom in the kitchen cooking food.
"What time did John leave?" I asked. My mom jumped in surprise.
"Oh, you scared me. I didn't even hear you come down the stairs," she said with a hand over her heart. "He left a little bit ago. He said he had homework or something to finish."
"Oh... ok. So what are you making for dinner?" I felt a little mad that John left without telling me or telling me where he was going. He usually doesn't do that, most of the time he leaves a note. It made me wonder what he was up to or if he is hiding anything. It not that I don't trust him because I do but I find it is a little suspicious. On the bright side though, my mom was cooking dinner and boy am I hungry.
"I was feeling kind of lazy, so tacos."
"Yummy, that is what I am hungry for," I said with a smile. "Call me down when it is ready." I turned around and went up the stair. As I walk up the stairs, I wanted to text Chelsea. I haven't talked to her lately. I wonder where my phone is.
In my room, I searched for my phone that I always seem to lose. I haven't used my phone in the past two days and I am starting to go through 'Phone withdraw'. I just always forget to bring it; beside the only person I am aloud to text are John, my mom, my dad, and Chelsea. They are the only people that really text me. I left up my blankets, nope not there. Maybe John put it somewhere. I looked on top of my dress and my desk, not there either. The clean clothes that are on the floor I pick up and put them in a random drawer, well, it wasn't beneath the clothes. Seriously, I swear I am the only one to lose my phone. It has to be here somewhere. Ugh. Where haven't I looked? I go over to my bed and shake my blanket to see if it is caught in them. Nothing falls out of the blankets, so I throw them on the floor. Only other things left on my bed is my pillows. I left my pillow and shake them to make sure it not in or under them. No sign of my phone yet. I throw my blanket back on to my bed. Hmm... The light bulb went off inside my head; maybe my phone is under my bed. I drop down onto my stomach on the floor and look under my bed. Ah ha, there it is. How did it get under there? Oh well. My bed frame is a couple inches off the ground so I can only fit up to my elbow under it. I reach under my bed trying to reach my phone but my hand hit something else, a box? I pull the box out from under my bed and set it aside. I reach under my bed again trying to get my phone. My fingertips touch the bottom of my phone, so I try to push my arm under more. My fingertips are on the phone, got it, finally. I pull it out from under my bed and then I get up off the floor, dusting myself off making sure there is no dust from under my bed on me. I try to turn it on but it is dead. I will charge it later. The box that was under my bed is still on my floor. I wonder is in it. I don't put anything under my bed so I don't know what is in it. I put the box on my lap and brush the dust off with my hand. Ewe, gross. It is so dirty; it must have been under there for ages. Lifting the lid, I discovered pictures. The pictures were old. I took a few out and looked at them. The one was of my mom, my dad, and I. It looked like it was taken in the summer. My two year old self was sitting in between my mom and dad. I was staring at my mom. We were all sitting on a bench. In the picture my dad is looking at my mom with love in his eyes. My mom was captured with her mouth open and her head tilted back a little; it looked like the camera caught her in the middle of her laughing. The picture reminded me of the good times. When my mom and dad never argued or when my dad didn't have to work 24/7. I put the picture on my night stand because it was a pretty picture. I will put it on my wall later. I flipped to another photo. I looked at least 6 in this photo. It was of a boy and me. We both are looking at the camera and we have party hats on. I guess I was at a birthday party. We are holding hand and smiling at the camera. In the background, my mom was holding a cup and standing with another lady which I can only see her back. The boy looked familiar. I feel like seen him somewhere before.
