A/N: Yeah this is a sequel so if you're new please read 'what's up danger' first.
Since I wrote the original story my writing has changed and hopefully improved a lot. This is basically me taking another crack at this concept, to see what else I can do with it now. Truthfully, I always kinda wanted to do a sequel hehe.
Especially since i feel like i kind of... i didnt leave loose ends in the first part but there was so much more to be explored in terms of the characters and world building. So I hope to do that now.
This is set a year later after the original story.
With that out of the way, let's begin :)
Jisung, despite his vehement protests the year prior, was at university.
Studying music, of course, because there was never any question of doing anything else. He'd been shocked to get in; his final exam grades were abysmal despite last ditch efforts to cram everything in, and he'd never taken any musical instrument exams. All he'd had was some messy demos he'd made on Chan's laptop, hoping that his talent would be enough.
It was, somehow. Not only that, but Hyunjin was there with him, studying dance. That had come as a surprise to Jisung, but considering the amount of time they'd spent arguing before they'd got together, there was a lot of catching up to do in terms of getting to know each other.
Seungmin had debated going too, but then decided to just drop out of full time education. There were still portals and glitches he occasionally needed to deal with, as gatekeeper of this world. He spent most of his time staring at his laptop screen in Minho's shop - something was going on between them, but it was hard to say what.
Felix had also considered taking his exams early, since technically he was the right age to begin university, although he'd ended up in the year below at school due to some screw up when he transferred from Australia. But he decided to do his last year of high school to stay with Jeongin, who everyone was still worrying about. Jeongin had recovered well from the incident, but his mental health was still suffering. A side effect of being possessed and attacking your friends, would be Jisung's guess.
Changbin was taking a year out, and Chan had graduated. The two of them were working on music together, and making plans to travel as well.
So in the end, it was just Jisung and Hyunjin together. Left to their own devices, mildly venturing into adulthood. Or as Seungmin put it, being on a "disgustingly lovey-dovey honeymoon".
But in reality, they were taking things slow. Jisung had learned more about Hyunjin in the past few months than ever before, the two of them opening up to each other in the excessive amount of time they spent together. University was also a lot of work, which Jisung tried to focus on as well. Even if he didn't study he usually scraped by, just by being a musically inclined person.
Even when hearing Seungmin's complaints about glitches or details about Minho's latest high tech project, the world of powers, shadows, and the multiverse seemed so far away from Jisung now. He didn't struggle to control his power anymore, and he barely used it anyway.
His life felt vaguely normal. Good, even. And it hadn't been that way in a long time.

"I'm scared of the dark," Hyunjin confessed to him one evening. They'd been hanging out in Jisung's dorm room, drinking cheap beer bought from the university store and attempting to study. Key word attempting. They'd spent most of the time making out.
"I mean, isn't everyone?" Jisung murmured in response, carding his fingers through Hyunjin's hair. He'd grown it out, which resulted in Jisung petting his head like a dog just because it felt so nice.
