My day off. Phew. Phew. And phew. It was a Saturday, and what a lazy one it was going to be. It was already lunch-time and I hadn't got up off the sofa. I'd managed to pull myself out of bed at around 9, sure, but I hadn't gotten off the sofa. I was curled up, with my duvet, watching 'Pride & Prejudice'. Phwoar, Colin Firth in a wet-white shirt? I couldn't resist.
I'd also managed to get hold of a Ben & Jerry's tub, so I was in sheer bliss. I lay back against the cushions, wiggling about to make them move into position. I closed my eyes and sighed. What a lovely time to be alive.
I heard a knock at the door. My eyes shot open.
"Oh.. no, no, no, no, no, no..." I pulled myself up off the sofa. Whoever it was rapped at the door again, louder this time. "Hang on." I yelled. Pushing the duvet away from me, I stumbled to the door. I opened it to find Magnus standing on the other side.
"I'm so sorry..." I knew that look. I knew that look very well. It was the Kurt's-given-you-weekend-work look.
"Please don't tell me Kurt has brought me weekend work? Please?" I begged Magnus but he shook his head. I moved out of the way and let him in. "Excuse the mess and what-not... I was just busy enjoying my weekend... until somebody showed up." I grumbled.
Magnus grinned at me, knowing I was joking.
"Well, if I stayed and helped... would it make it go quicker?" I scratched my head, putting a hand on my hip.
"Well... I don't want to ruin your weekend... but... yes." I smiled. Magnus stared at me for a bit. I frowned and looked down. Had I got drool on my shirt? Then I realised. I was only wearing a t-shirt and pants... what the hell?! Oops.
"Give me a second." I rushed into the bedroom and found the first pair of jeans I could. I managed to get them on quiet quickly with a few wiggles and jumps before skidding back out into the hall, where Magnus still stood.
"Right... now I'm decent." I waggled my eyebrows and lead him through to the living room. "Like I said... sorry about the mess and stuff..." I moved the duvet away and tidied up some of the cushions.
Magnus sat down, stifling laughter.
"Yes, yes, I'm watching Pride & Prejudice... problem?" I 'accidentally' thwacked him with a cushion as I went past. That was just too much. We both burst out laughing and I collapsed on the sofa next to him.
He brought out a pile of paper and plonked it on my coffee table.
"We're gonna need some fuel, I think." He hinted.
"Is that a small hint that you want coffee?" I raised my eyebrows and strode into the kitchen.
While I was tinkering in the kitchen, fixing us both coffee, I heard him rustling the pages about, sorting out what we were going to do.
"What's Kurt want us to do, then?" I called, flipping on the kettle.
"Family profiles, I think." He yelled back. "Why are you always the one that does bloody profiles? It's like he has a vendetta against you or something." He laughed. I grinned and wandered back to the sofa.
He produced a biro for us each and began crossing off names, circling stuff and underlining stuff. I made notes on a pad of what he was doing.
* * *
Time flew really quickly. It was five o'clock by the time we'd finished and we were both knackered. I'd switched the films over in the time that we'd been working. So far we'd managed to get through 'Pride & Prejudice', 'Sense & Sensibility' and we were just half way through 'Emma'.
