Future Sight (sneek peak)

"Hey, Ruby! Look, I'm doing it!"

Alex shouts over to Ruby who is currently sitting down under a shadowy tree with Ripan at her side, playing a game of cards with each other. She looks over to the clear grassy field, a little further away from the tree they're under, where Alex was supposed to practice some attacks on the training doll that they had brought with them.

Alex is sending nicely placed punches and trick kicks to the doll before knocking it over with one strong roundhouse kick, sending a cloud of dust up from the impact on the ground.

He gets up with a proud grin on his face, putting his hands on his hips.

"Was that good or was that good?" He says with a puffed chest, hoping for praise from his friend like he used to get when they trained with the pirates back then. After a good sparring session, she'd high-five him and smile at him, letting her white fangs flash while saying 'Good job'.

It was a small gesture but it never failed to let his pride blossom a little more when she did.

"Great" Ruby says with a sarcastic eye roll, disinterest clearly audible in her voice, and turns back to her cards, not noticing nor caring how Alex's face fell along with his shoulders.

She smirks up teasingly at her game partner.

"Take two"

Ripan grumbles and takes two and adds them to his deck of cards and mumbles something before laying down one on the stack in the middle of them.

"No way in hell am I losing to you again, you cheater"

Ruby smirks wider when she looks at the card and slams down one of her own.

"Cross Queen. Check may, me friend!"

"No way!"

Ruby laughs her ass off at his face while Ripan stares in disbelief at her winning card before throwing down his remaining cards on the ground and turning away slightly to pout with crossed arms. Ruby wipes a tear that has escaped her eye from all the laughing and gathers the cards again, shuffling them. She smiles up at Ripan since he was still a good half a foot taller than her while sitting down and says in an amused tone.

"Yes way, you sore loser"

"You totally cheated"

Ruby smirks once again at him playfully.

"Aaaaw, do you want another rematch then? Maybe you'll win this time"

He stops pouting and uncrosses his arms with a chuckle.

"No, I'm fine. I'll just take a nap for the time that we have left here"

He says lazily while positioning himself against the tree with his arms behind his head and closing his eyes with a yawn.

"But that means I'll have to look after dumb-ass alone! Please don't leave me for sleepy laaaaaaand!"

She whines while hugging his arm to her chest. Alex didn't fail to notice the way she presses herself against Ripans arm, her breasts popping out a little more. Alex immediately shakes the thought out of his head while trying to lose the slight warmness in his cheeks.
His embarrassment is quickly forgotten though when he sees Ripan opening one eye and smiling down at Ruby, pulling her closer by her waist. She lets go of his arm and instead hugs his torso with her head tugged under his chin.

'Grrrrh'

Alex blinks a few times perplexed. 'D-did... did I just growl?'

He thinks to himself but again his thoughts are interrupted by the somewhat intimate interaction between his former friend and enemy as he sees Ruby snuggle more into Ripan, closing her eyes while he draws small circles on the exposed skin of her waist with his thumb, his no longer clothed hand resting there. They are mumbling something to each other but he couldn't hear from where he stood.
