I raised my hand to cover my eyes, the light was blinding as I sat up. My muscles ached, head was throbbing, and there was a shrill ringing that echoed in my ears.

"Blake~"

I spun around, blinking quickly as my eyes adjusted. There were pebbles underneath my hands, I seemed to be on a road I did not recognize, the air was warm with a light breeze blowing across the leaves, the sun glistening down from between clouds drifting high in the sky.

"Blake~"

The hairs on my arms suddenly stood on end as I swore I heard my name being called out. I stood slowly, uneasy on my feet, nearly toppling right back over.

"Blake."

The call was stern and clear this time, but no matter how many times I looked around, there was not a soul in sight. A caressing breeze brushed over my shoulder, bringing an oddly familiar smell in the air, like sickly sweet almost.

Must have been one hell of a night.

I could only chuckle to myself as I looked down the road. It was going to be a chance either way I took, none of this was drawing a sliver of familiarity.

Time passed as I walked on, every so often I'd stop to look behind me out of habit, and always the same scene would greet me.

Exactly the same.

The road ahead looked identical to the road behind me. I brushed the thought away, my head is still in a fog froum whatever I went through the past hours. After another few moments I saw something, an odd, dark shape on the side of the road. Curiosity has always gotten the best of me, but something was telling me to turn tail and run the other way, and I almost listened.

Then it moved.

A soft groan at first as it stirred for a brief moment. I ran towards whatever it was. As I got closer my legs grew heavier, my heart was racing and my head was screaming. It was a little girl, I knelt next to her to check for her pulse, faint. As I brushed her dark hair away from her face I felt my heart turn to cement. "A-Angela?"

A thousand memories came flooding into my head at once. Pain shot through my head as I tried to grasp at the fleeting images; a baby. strange faces twisting in pain as I carried a child away. A boat on stormy waves. Small island town with a small hut on the waters edge. Bouncing curls as laughter fills the warm salted air. Happy, sad, rage, fear, so many emotions clawing to the surface...

It was her...

Angela... My little Angela now laying in my arms, my eyes focusing on the deep red pool that had stained the earth below her.

There were no more sounds, the wind stood still, the sun was cold on my skin as I felt the last of her heart beats fade and become consumed in the stillness of the world.

Just like that, everything I had ever felt, everything I thought I was strong enough to hold in, shattered through the surface as the reality hit me head on.

Angela was dead.
