“But…” her pure white eyes looked out across the land and then up to the Creator, or God as some cultures refer to him. There was a look of confusion upon her face as she studied the Creator.

“I can tell that you do not approve.” The Creator placed a hand on her shoulder and motioned to the land before them with the other, “but you do know that I’m asking you to do what is good for the land and those which are upon it.” Time passed freely between the two, her mind was wrapped in the words which he spoke. Just as the Creator turned from the girl, she decided to speak.

“But they are upon the land just as much as anything else…” Her voice shook and the Creator turned just in time to see the pain swelling in her eyes, “I can’t just slaughter an entire species for no reason.” He gave her no response before he ascended through the clouds, returning to his Kingdom. Another being approached the girl and tapped the golden halo above her long, crimson colored hair.

“There is a reason for all that we are asking of you,” the one called the Destructor, or devil in some cultures, looked upon the girl, “and you can kill off this species.” Again he tapped on her halo, “you aren’t completely pure and holy, even though he treats you as such.” Something in her began to snap and her white eyes gave off a hint of rage. “There it is,” he turned from her and looked out to the meadow which lay still below them, “You may have known more of a life with Marie than you do of one with Roan, but you are the daughter of both of them.” The girl pondered over the Destructor’s words a moment then looked out across the land as both the Creator and the Destructor had.

“Then what’s the reason?...” Her voice was steady and confident, her eyes clouding to a smokey grey as her mind filled with the thoughts of her father Roan and his demonic world. She had never been among the demons of the Abyss, Kingdom of the Destructor, for she had grown in the Sky Kingdom with her mother Marie, the Creator’s best angel.

“We both know that this world is young and deserves to live just as anything does, but-“

“They are killing the true creation, the land itself.” She nodded her head slowly once as the Destructor began to walk away from the girl, “I remember witnessing their hunger for blood and violence. The ignorance for the land and ways of life around them meant nothing until it was too late.” She submerged herself into the tall grass as the Destructor vanished and she was left upon the crest of the hill alone with her thoughts. “Can I really do it?...”

The wind gently brushed her skin, the smells of the village passing her by; breads, meats, stews cooking for lunch, laundry drying in the afternoon sun, even the sweaty workers on the farms and down in the village market. She began to descend through the grassy fields, making her way towards the village. As she approached the edge of the village she stepped into the cooling water of the stream that ran through the meadow. Then she stopped, standing midway between the sides of the river; she heard laughter and the soft thumping of footsteps in the grassy fields..

“Wait!“ A small group of children ran through the river, the water rising just above their waists, then into the streets and down towards the heart of the village. “I can’t keep up!” She turned around as a young girl waived her arms over her head, tears began to fall down her face and she lowered her head and voice, “I can’t swim. They always leave me over here.”  After looking back and forth, she approached the crying child slowly.

“Need some…” the teary green eyed child sniffled and looked up into her grey eyes, “…help?”  Her hand held out to the child.  She pushed some blonde curls out of her face and nodded; her small hands shook as she reached towards her.

“I’m Nattie” She allowed herself to be picked up and they began to cross the river. “I’ve seen you in the village before.”  The child was shaking, a fear of the water perhaps, “Do you have a name?” There was a long silence as she carried the girl, Nattie, across the river. She had never had the thought of a name before; nobody had ever called upon her with a title. Did she even have a name to call her own?

“…No I-I don’t…” Another pause as Nattie began to step onto the warmed grass along the riverbank, “-have a name like you do Nattie.”  The girl carefully eased her way onto the river’s edge; her feet making gentle ripples in the water. “I’ve never had one.” She began to wring the ends of her crimson colored hair, watching the bouncing blonde girl named Nattie twirl in her pink ribbon covered dress.

“Everyone has a name, even silly looking people like you.” Nattie’s green eyes watched her, clearly waiting for a name to call her. Not sure of the reason, the cause, but she had the urge. She felt her eyes sting like they were heated, a slight burning as she watched the child. Every twirl of the ribbons and bounce of her curls made a spark of anger in her.

  “I don’t have a na-“

“You MUST have a name.” Little Nattie leaned closer to her, “I thought your eyes were grey, not red” she leaned close to look at her eyes, the green sparkle of Nattie’s must have been the final tick…

“I said,” Within a moment the blonde curls stopped bouncing and the pink ribbon dress was no longer twirling like the grass. “I have no name.” Nattie let out a squeal as she was pulled close to the water, the woman’s arm around her neck, “But since you insist…” There was a SNAPbefore the small body went limp and fell into the movement of the water, “call me Grimm”

She stood from the water’s edge, the child’s body no longer within sight, but she looked down the river as if she was still watching her float away, “And I shall rid your species from the face of this planet.” With a silent turn she faced the village and began to walk towards the village, she was ready. These things, creatures were made by the same beings who rejected her. They were prized and were good, bad, and everything in-between...just like she was raised. The difference is they got to go to either kingdom after death and Grimm did not.

This land, this planet between the kingdoms was now hers, she was never allowed to leave, so only her own creations would be allowed to stay.

The first thing to go would be, just as she was asked, to reduce the human population.

Only she was reducing it to Zero.
