It was getting late and the two of them hardly spoke to each other. Well, Licorice didn't speak, Chili Pepper was the one who was trying to make small talk. Licorice wasn't having it, so he ignored her. Once Chili Pepper noticed he was ignoring her, she went onto poking him. "Hey emo boy, hey emo boy, heeeyyy emoooo boooooy" she repeated. Licorice turned red, annoyed, but tried to keep it in. "C'mon emo boy, you don't gotta ignore me, I just wanna talk" Chili Pepper said. Licorice still proceeded to ignore her. "C'mon emo boy! I'm bored!" She whined. "What do you want!?" Licorice yelled at her. "Oh, finally you spoke, I thought you died for a moment" she chuckled.

"Shut up! If you don't got anything important to say to me, just. shut. up!" he screamed. "Oh, but I do have something important to say" she grinned. "Make it quick" he crossed his arms. Chili Pepper went silent for a moment. She didn't really have anything to say. She only kept bugging Licorice because she was bored. She stopped to think and then asked "so, your mother. What's up with her, and how did she raise such wacky children?". Licorice sighed and continued walking to the store "well, first of all, you can't refer to her as my mother, you must call her 'Dark Enchantress Cookie'" Licorice said. "Dark Enchantress? Pfft, what a dumb name" Chili Pepper chuckled. "Whatever, her rules, not mine. Second of all, we're all adopted. She raised us to be... you know what, I'm not supposed to tell you any of this" Licorice dropped the subject. "What!? Why not!?" Chili Pepper whined. "Because, I'm forbidden to" he said. Chili Pepper rolled her eyes.

Once they got to the store, Licorice looked at the cashier. He whispered to Chili Pepper "mind distracting him a moment?". Chili Pepper looked confused. "Uhm, why?" she asked. "No reason, just make small talk with him" he said, walking off. Chili Pepper stared at the tired cashier who looked like he was on the verge of quitting his job. "So, how's you?" she asked him. The cashier stared at her back with tired eyes. "I'm not in the best of moods, now scram, kid" he yawned. "Sheesh, is everyone I run into gotta be boring? Like c'mon, this is the most boring day ever" she scoffed. She looked around and noticed something. The place was completely empty. She turned to him and then asked "where even is everyone?". The cashier rubbed his eyes and said "the robbery... everyone's paranoid now and people are refusing to come shop, yet they still kept the stores open for whatever reason". Chili Pepper sweated a bit again, but then they heard a loud noise, like something had been smashed. "What the heck was that?" Chili Pepper asked. "Probably a pickle jar fell, because if so, I don't feel like cleaning it up" the tired cashier said. The same sound happened four more times, yet the cashier didn't seem to care.

Licorice then came back, and then yelled to the cashier "go to sleep!". The cashier shrugged and then said "alright" and did exactly what he said. "What the... that never works, and yet I do that anyways" Licorice said, surprised. He held up a sack and then said "c'mon, let's hurry before he wakes up". Chili Pepper was really confused now. "Woah woah woah, hold it. What are we even doing and what was that sound I kept hearing back there?"she asked. Licorice sighed and then whispered. "Okay, don't freak out, but that was me smashing the security cameras and uh... this is... basically... a robbery?" Licorice shrugged. Chili Pepper stared at him for a moment, then she started getting giddy. "You do robberies?" she couldn't contain her excitement. "Well, yeah, but it's just my mother's orders. She doesn't wanna waste money" he mumbled. "Oh my god! I love robberies, I'm the best at them!" she squealed, excitedly. "Shhh, you'll wake him, and wait, you've done a robbery before?" he looked at her surprised. "A robbery? Pfft, emo boy, I've done multiples, now what are we waiting for? Let's empty this place out!" she snatched the sack out of his grasp and started clearing out shelves. Licorice watched her in awe, then started to help her.

They started making it into a game. Chili Pepper would stand at a distance, holding the sack open and Licorice would attempt to throw an item in it, something like basketball. They would then go onto throwing stuff at each other, like it was a game of dodgeball. Then they went onto stacking cereal boxes like they were blocks, and then started stacking soda bottles onto them to make it even more challenging to keep up. Once they were done, they loaded everything in the sack and ran out. Before they headed home, they sat on a bench outside the store doors and started drinking soda. Chili Pepper punched his arm and said "you know what emo boy, I was wrong about you. You're not boring. You're... okay in my book". Licorice smiled. "I guess you're not so bad yourself, when you're not being a total nuisance". The two of them laughed, but then spotted three cookies coming their way. "Oh god, it's the authorities, hide!" He exclaimed, pulling her into a bush.

They peeked to see a detective, a sheriff and the sheriff's daughter. "Huh, this place has been affected too, we're too late" said the detective. "Well, what are we doin' standing around, get in there!" shouted the Sheriff. Chili Pepper had her eyes on the sheriff's daughter. "Rye Cookie...?" She mumbled. Licorice turned to her, confused. "Who now?" he asked. "Her, right there. My partner" she pointed. "Wait, she's the the sheriff's daughter? That explains the western clothing" Licorice whispered. When they all walked inside, Licorice grabbed Chili Pepper's hand. "C'mon, hurry, we gotta go before they come out!" he exclaimed. Chili Pepper held the sack over her shoulder and ran with him.

As they walked home, Licorice asked "so, Rye Cookie, what's she like?". Chili Pepper thought about it, and then said "she's amazing, her dad lets her use actual guns" Licorice's eyes widened a bit. "Real guns? Man, she's a lucky gal" he said. "She really is, and her sense of fashion is cool and her voice... it's so... breathtaking and her freckles, I mean, I'm not really a fan of freckles, but hers are the best freckles I've ever seen and... and..." Licorice stared at her. "Uhm, were your cheeks always that red?" he asked. "What? My cheeks are red? Probably nothing" she shrugged.

There was a gap of silence throughout their walk, and then Licorice said "so uhm, wanna... hang out some time... maybe be... uhm..." Licorice struggled to say it. "C'mon emo boy, spit it out" Chili Pepper said. "Fr... fr... fri..." he struggled. "Friends?" she asked. Licorice sighed "I'm sorry, I'm just not used to saying that, it's been a while" Chili Pepper punched his arm. "Hey, no worries". The two of them grinned at each other. "Can I keep calling you emo boy?" she asked. "No, no you may not" Licorice said. "Kay, emo boy" Chili Pepper chuckled. Licorice didn't like it, but that was the day the two of them started to like each other a little bit.
