Chapter 1
It started in the summer. I knew I liked Jared, but it wasn't really anything major until this summer. You see, our family's were close. Real close. Like the kind of relationship where I'd just walk 2 houses down and walk in and grab some food and sit on the couch. It was the normal thing to do for me.
But this one day, I walked in and Jared's little brother Luke was there waiting for me. He's was too young, but he had the biggest crush on me. It was actually quite funny. "Hey girlfriend, guess what?" Luke said, while he was winking at me..over and over. "Get lost! I'm 6 years older than you man!" I hissed, annoyed with him already. "Okay fine, then I won't tell you where we are going this week.." Luke ran away to get Jared. "You little squirt, get back here!" Jared walked in laughing at my usual summer look. No makeup, hair up, shorts, and my bathing suit, with one of his shirts as a cover up. He did his hair flick, "Ready for the next month?" Jared explained how they are taking me with his family up to Colorado. I didn't really understand why, he said something about congratulating me. It didn't make much sense, until I got home. There, I found a letter in the mail from a college. I got accepted in a volleyball camp! But it wasn't any old volleyball camp, only the best of the best got into it! Jared pressured me to tryout for it, I guess I didn't really think much about it. My parents were busy with their work, so Jared's family offered to take me up there and stay with their grandparents if I helped out with their animals. I thought it would be fun, so I took the offer!
The next day, Jared came over to help me pack. It only took 5 hours, we got so distracted. By the time we actually got done, I was exhausted. We laid there on my bed, just talking. Few laughs here and there. It was just nice! He got up and leaned over resting his head on his arm looking into my eyes. "Ya know, there's a fair dance thing around the time that we go, would you want to go...just us?"
Did Jared Hudson just ask me out on a date..? Didn't know fresh meat could get an upperclass date.
I sat up and smiled. "Sounds fun"
