Rose narrowed her eyes in concentration as she carefully cracked the egg and let its contents spill out into the pan before disposing of the shell.
''tell me love, what is this called again?''
Loki's voice asked behind her, his majesty currently leaning against the island counter while she worked at the counter space across from him. Her wings were noticeably droopy with obvious exhaustion although her facial features tried to hide it, even when flashing him an annoyed look.
''omelet.''
''right. And teaching me this is pointless if it doesn't taste good.'' He said with a wave of the hand, his voice indicating how bored he was, even when it was on her time; but without admitting it, annoying her was oh so amusing. Although he did hide a look of guilt by how tired he had made her, having her clean practically the entire place double time with his here and there mischievous antics along the way and offered the cheer her up as he watched her continue cooking. ''..-but I am learning a lot..'' no luck.
''the food tasting good or bad isn't exactly the point of the objective. If you can learn basic cooking skills without burning the entire place down and still manage to sustain yourself than that's about all that needs to be in passing order.''
Loki nodded as he took mental notes on what she was doing, only acting like he wasn't paying attention. In all honest it was quite fascinating, almost all the time the servants had cooked for him while on Asgard, only here and there did he whip something up on rare late night occasions but nothing like this, and certainly not with Midgardian cooking devices... ''..even though right now your fine acting upon cannibalism.''
Rose set down the bowl and gave an expression that was debating on if he was joking or was serious. ''..i don't lay eggs.'' She told him, her wings fluffing as if they were personally offended.
''prove it.'' Loki smirked with a shrug, making Rose glare before she turned back to what she was doing and motioned for him to stand beside her; as much as she didn't want him near.
''you can either add toppings in the bowl or pour as you go but don't take to long or you'll burn it.'' She instructed, adding a few things she thought he'd like and began finishing up her work. All the while her eyes glanced at him to make sire, he was paying attention and could have sworn he had been looking at her as they darted to the pan just as her eyes moved to check his.
She felt her cheeks redden and she suddenly got the sudden urge to shy away from him, making her work a bit faster and finally managed to get the food to the plate and set it on the island counter before him. ''basic food but always remember to turn off the heat when you're finished.'' She warned him, already seeing fires in the future.
Loki smirked at her mere comment as he picked up his fork. ''don't worry love, I'm well experienced with heat.'' His voice came out like a purr, making her blush and turn to leave to prevent him from seeing before she felt a gentle grip on her wrist. He pulled her back to face him, his grip indicating he didn't plan on letting go.
''what are you-'' her words cut short when he held up a forkful of the food she just made before her lips.
''I must see if it wasn't poisoned.'' He smiled innocently.
''you literally watched me make it in front of you.'' She said stubbornly while leaning away from his fork but his hand on hers pulled her closer to himself.
''my mind may have wondered.'' He said innocently, his eyes giving a fake apology.
Rose raised a brow. ''you think that after all this time throughout the day and job id give up and poison you?''
