I awake with bright sunlight streaming through my window and illuminating my dark bedroom. I sit up slowly and run the fingers through my short thin hair. I looked over at the clock. 7:55, oh I've still got plenty of-
My heart skips a beat.
"I have 10 minutes!" I yell as I throw myself out of bed and to my dresser. I pull out my Pokemon tee-shirt and a pair of black leggings and head into the bathroom. I quickly throw on some mascara and brush my teeth. I brush through my tangled hair as quickly as possible. If your wondering, I have about shoulder length, thin, lifeless brown hair and dull green eyes. I'm not fat neither am I skinny and I am abnormally small. I'm absolutely not one of those girls who thinks they're ugly but are really gorgeous. I think I am ugly but I am actually ugly. What a surprise. Once I'm done getting ready I quickly grab a granola bar and run out the front door. I panic realizing must have missed my bus to go to my job at Tesco so I jump into my dads truck and drive off, oh boy he won't be happy.
I look at the clock, 8:04, 1 minute to spare.

"Thank you, and have a great day!" I smile at the last customer of today and she walks out into the evening. I sigh, taking off my apron and switching the open sign to closed. My boss told me to lock up when finished. I hopped in my dads truck, not looking forward to tonight's scolding. I drive home and when I opened the door there stood my dad, with an empty bottle of whisky in his left hand, his other balled into an angry fist.
"I got fired, because of you...." He whispered.
"They fired me because that was my 5th and final late arrivals and I barely have enough money to live myself."
He grabbed a steak knife from its place on the counter and smiled at me.
"Now, I won't have to deal with a nuisance like you anymore."
I stopped breathing as he lunged at me. I tried to struggle free from his grip. He punched, kicked and slapped at me all he could until I was nearly unconscious. He lifted the knife, aiming for my stomach. Right as he was about to strike I grabbed the potted plant beside me and smashed it over his head. As he lay on the floor, dazed I sprinted as fast as my bruised legs would take me outside and screamed at the top of my lungs, knowing I would fall. My vision went black as I heard foot steps running toward me. The last thing I remember is sirens and a soft voice cooing reassuring words in my ear.
