Chapter 3

“ That sounds almost exactly like what happened to me when I made the
deal.”
“ I guess that's just what happens.”
“ So what do we do now?”
How about we introduce ourselves to River.”
A small dark hard girl looks at me She seems to be around 5 1 has a fairly
narrow waist wide hips and busam her hair is cut in a mid-length Bob she
is dark chocolate brown eyes her face is littered with freckles and she
seems to have recently gotten her nails done Wearing a black tank top with
a black ripped jeans along with a matching pair of vans she had on her left
hand ring finger a small diamond ring
“ Hi, I'm Kate. Nice to meet you.”
Next a small brown haired boy smiles at me Here's a wide smile one that
could probably light up a room his eyes looked like they were asking a
million questions but he was too afraid to ask himself He was wearing a
bright green in Minecraft T-shirt along with a pair of basketball shorts it
would seem to be Skechers shoes but it was far too dark to tell for sure he
seemed to be about 12 years old cuz he was quite small looking to possibly
be malnourished but it's not my place to ask
“Hello im henry.”
The last boy looked at me a gave a nod
“Hi River, I'm Andreas. Pleased to meet you.”
Andreas had dark skin and even darker eyes she seemed to be
around six feet tall and much older than the rest of us but not quite an adult
he was wearing a pink yungblud T-shirt and a pair of checkered pants and
combat boots in his ears he were large hoop earrings he seemed
completely upset with being where he currently with that
As I stare across at them I wonder what brought us all to the situation
As soon as I woke up I was laying in a tent then I stepped out to the
campfire The campfire was located deep in the woods thick foliage
surrounded it the fire from pit illuminated the trees and gave enough light to
be able to see where I was going and there were three other kids here
their faces being illuminated by the fire my brain is still racing to try and
catch up clear the last two days I've gone from a bullied kid to homeless the
here making a deal with I don't know what all I know is this was much more than I bargained for when I came homeShortly after the introductions the

He takes a deep breath in and raises his hands soon purple wisps
start forming around it. me and all the others look at it and all this is
something I've never seen before suddenly my brain flashes back to a
dream I had a couple weeks ago the same purple wisps surrounding a
book and shadows racing across the walls Suddenly the purple flies
straight past my head and lands in a tree behind me what seems to be an
arrow shot out of nowhere I look up at him and he smirks back at me smart
that only can mean told you so
well now is that discussion is over I would like to tell you where
you're going to give you some things possibly help you along the way he pulls out a map of what seems to be the United States within little
red X on what I can only assume is Phoenix Arizona
this is Where You Are going to need to be going in a cave right
around here there should be a book trust me you'll know it when you see it
be careful it's heavily booby-trapped
he places down the map and reaches into his satchel He pull some
things out and leave it in front of us they seem to be four pieces of jewelry
the first one being a necklace with a Golden Chain and a great job but ice
of what seemed to be a frog the next being a ring with a emerald green frog
placed upon it the ring itself is silver put your striking next to the green
there was a bracelet that was of a golden color and sure enough on it it had
a green frog and finally there were a pair of earrings I had a dark green
background and golden frogs painted on them
why are there frogs on them Kate asks the question that's on
everyone's mind
Frogs are special animals me I help tell me what's going on
and why exactly are you giving this jewelry to us Henry inquires
Along the way you're going to meet many people who are also trying
to get the book And they're not going to be just any regular teenage kid
they're not going to worry about whether or not any person this or not so

latches onto my wrist as it does this I feel a cold sensation run up my arm
and throughout my entire body the tiredness and aching feeling in my
bones now feels energized like I could run a mile without taking a single
stop my eyes widened surprise my vision goes blurry for half a second and
then clears up to see everyone else staring at Me In awe Except for
Ambrose who seems completely unimpressed Next to reach out is on
Andreas who grabs the earrings they do the same thing if I up turn purple
and click into his ears set for this time I see his eyes glow purple him rise into the air a couple inches and fall back down I stare at him wonder if
that's the same thing that happened to me whenever I grab the bracelet
both Henry and Kate seemed sure to make a decision but Henry reaches
out first to grab the necklace it follows in suit with the others finally Kate
reaches out for the ring and goes through her energizing process
well now that you've put them on you can see that they are quite
powerful know if you don't mind I would like it if you were to get some sleep
The other three walk over to their tents and I walk over to the one I woke up
in as I climb into the tent I can all look around to see what's in it there's a
sleeping bag in the middle the right of fact is a lantern to the left of the
sleeping bag seems to lay some bottles of water I grabbed one of the
bottles of water and start drinking it just now realizing how dry my mouth
was and I lay down in a sleeping bag I haven't had real sleep in almost 2
days As I cover up I can feel my eyes getting heavier and I quickly Drift Off
to Sleep
