Zane had just returned home from a long night with Kai. He set his keys down on the table and walked back into his bedroom. *What am I doing? What would happen if Lucinda found out?.. She won't, and what she doesn't know won't hurt her, right?* Zane thought.
"Zane, I'm home!" Zane heard Lucinda's familiar voice from the front door.
"Welcome home, my love." Zane walked over to the front to greet his wife, "how was work today?" he asked.
"It was okay. I'm really tired, but it was fun. We got pretzels afterward so I'm not that upset," Lucinda said, hanging up her bag on the rack at the door.
"Well that's nice, darling," Zane said before pulling her in for a hug.
"What did you do today? Cooking I presume?" She said, throwing herself onto the couch.
"Nothing out of the ordinary. Just what I normally do when I can't spend every hour of the day with you." Zane said as he sat beside her.
"Mm, you weren't too bored here? All by yourself?" she asked, leaning in closer.
"Don't worry about me, dearest. I'll be okay. Just keep doing what makes you happy," he said, moving his arm around her shoulder.
"Whatever you say, my love." Lucinda said, getting up from her spot on the couch and walking toward their bedroom.

---------

Zane let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, and stared up at the ceiling. Is this really what I should be doing? He thought.
He needed to clear his mind. He needed a break from all the thoughts he had that had been playing on a constant loop during the entirety of his time with Lucinda. He got up from his place on the bed next to his wife and walked to his bathroom to wash off.
He took a nice, refreshing shower. Well, more like he stood under the water for 25 minutes while thinking more and more about Kai. Damn. Why is he so addictive? It's like the taste of him still lingers on my tongue. Zane thought. He ran his fingers through his hair and washed off his smudged eyeliner. This was the most peaceful moment he had in a while. Until it was interrupted by a certain someone who loved to walk in without knocking.
"Why are you taking a shower at 11 at night, Zane?" Lucinda asked, rubbing her eyes.
"Did I wake you up? I'm sorry if I did," Zane said, peeling out from behind the shower curtain.
"No, it's not your fault. I woke up on my own, I just wanted to know why you were awake," She said walking further into the washroom.
"Ah, I see," Zane said before closing the curtain once more to continue his shower.
"Well you know I have an interview today and I won't be here so why don't we do something now?" Lucinda said, closing the door behind her.
  "Like what, dear?" Zane said.
"Like, I don't know, showering together?" Lucinda said, leaning up against the shower door. "We haven't done that in a while. Wouldn't it be fun?"
"I'm not opposed to the idea of that," Zane said, looking back out at his wife, dressed in a red silk nightgown with her hair done up perfectly.
"Wonderful," Lucinda said before letting her gown glide down her body until it was completely off, and stepping into the shower with her husband.

---------

The next morning, Lucinda's whole body ached. Zane got up early to make her breakfast before she had to leave for her interview.
Lucinda walked out of her bedroom, rubbing sleep from her eyes, "You never cease to amaze me. I don't know how you do it," she said leaning against the kitchen door frame. "You always have the energy to put time into caring for me. Even if it means waking up at the crack of dawn to make breakfast for me."
"I try to be the best husband I can be, you know," Zane said, flipping an egg in the pan.
"So, what did you make for me today?" Lucinda said, peering over his shoulder to look down at the food on the stove.
"Eggs and French toast. I know it's basic, but you said it was good so I decided to make it again," He said, plating his wife's meal.
"It's not basic at all. I love it. I love anything you make me," she said sitting down at the kitchen island to eat the food her husband had so generously prepared.
"It's good to know I can make you happy while doing what I love as well," Zane said.
"I have to get going in a while so I better grab my bag and head to the car ," Lucinda explained.
"Are you going on another trip?" Zane asked, before taking a sip of his tea.
"No, not exactly. I'm staying with my friend because she lives closer to the place we're shooting the interview. Then after that, we're gonna take a few photos of me and the scenery for a new magazine cover," she announced. "I'll only be gone for a few days at most."
  "Which friend?" Zane questioned.
"I don't think you know her, so it doesn't matter," Lucinda uttered, placing her dish in the sink.
"Oh, I see. Well, have fun. I'll be out most of today running errands and other things I've been meaning to get finished." He said, walking over to his wife at the sink.
"Alright, well don't have too much fun without me." Lucinda said, kissing his cheek.
"I wouldn't dream of it." Zane said.
"Ah right, almost forgot to mention. It's Kai's birthday this weekend. I bought a gift for him a while back and it's under the bed. Do you mind giving it to him if he comes over?" Lucinda said.
"Anything for you, my love."
