"Baby, come into my office." I heard him yell.
Sighing heavily, I stood up from my vanity. The long silk robe clung to my boney body and dragged along the hardwood floor as I almost silently made my way down the long hallway towards my husband.
"Hey babe." I spoke elegantly.
He looked up at me for a brief moment and then continued typing away at his computer.
Walking around the dark and modern desk, I placed my hand on his broad shoulder.
"You look ravishing, love." He spoke without a thought.
"Thank you, baby. Just for you." I smirked.
He finally turned towards me, pulling me into his lap. He ran his muscular hand through my long blonde hair. I bit my lower lip and looked into his eyes. The greenest eyes I'd ever seen, were always staring right back at mine.
"Work today?" I questioned.
"Of course. The office is slammed with problems on almost all the properties." He spoke with his thick accent.
"Dinner will be ready by 7:00. I'm making your favorite." I almost whispered.
"Perfect. With that, Lilia, I must be going." He spoke, taking me off his lap and putting his coat on.
"Be safe, baby." I said looking up at him.
"Always." He smirked and kissed me on the lips.
With one last glance towards me, he left. I watched as the black Mercedes pulled out of the driveway.
As I sipped the warm coffee in my hands, I logged onto my account with SS.
"Styles, we have a case for you." My boss spoke through the computer screen.
"It's done." I spoke, closing the window down and rushed towards my bedroom to get ready.
Glancing at myself in the mirror, I smirked in content. Not to sound conceited, but I was happy with the way I looked and thought I was actually kind of hot. I wasn't always this way, but circumstances do change a person. Almost all the bones stuck out along my skin. My skin was glowing. My hair was blonde and quite long. It took what seemed like forever to get to where I am today. My husband was hot. Both of us were wealthy. The house we lived in was way more than we needed, but definitely wanted. I was 25 and Harry was 28. We'd been married for 5 years. And it's been magical. We both knew what we wanted and we wanted each other, and nice lives. Together we had made it.
Snapping out of my thoughts, I gathered my things and rushed out the door.
Speeding the entire way towards the tall building I worked at, Harry called my cell.
"Baby. Hi." I spoke.
"Love, how are you?" He asked.
"Great. I'm just heading to work." I stated.
"Go get 'em Dr. Styles." I could almost hear the smirk in his voice.
I giggled.
"Marrying a doctor was smartest thing I've ever done." He said.
"Oh yeah?" I questioned.
"Yeah, it's very... Sexy." He stated.
"Are you flirting over the phone, baby?" I smirked.
"I don't flirt, babe. Especially since I've already got you and get to call you mine."
The line was silent for a moment.
"I just miss you, Ophelia. I'll see you when I get home. Love you." & with that, he hung up. Harry always used my nickname Lilia at home, but called me Ophelia while he was away.
Sighing, I finally reached the top floor of the building and was immediately bombarded with workers.
"Wow. Okay, coffee please." I spoke walking towards my desk.
Immediately I was handed what I had asked for and my computer screen was already up & running.
"Ophelia. The case you're doing is a big one. We've been eyeing this man for years. He's dangerous and very educated on what we do and how we do it. His name is not yet known, which is why you have been brought into the equation." Rose spoke sternly.
I nodded my head and sipped the hot coffee.
"We need you to meet with him. Get close to him. Know his every move. Know what kind of shampoo and after shave he uses. We need you to go undercover and take him out." She said, looking straight at me.
"I'm married." I let out.
"That doesn't matter, Ophelia. Your job is your job. I don't care what your relationship status is. You either do it, or you're fired." She spat.
I sighed in defeat, "Okay. I'll do it."
With that, Rose walked away. Leaving me to the job. I started my research and before I knew it, I knew where he was.
"I need cameras on The Hilton hotel. Scan it and lock him down. I need to know what he looks like." I spoke to the other employees. Nods were seen and the cameras were covering the entire hotel. I only knew what the back of his head looked like. He was wearing a hat. Dark hair with curls bursting out from the bottom of the hat.
"Styles. We have a visual." Someone said.
I quickly got up from my desk and walked over to the computer. I watched closely at the unknown man. He turned towards the camera and she paused the video. Realization hit me like a ton of bricks.
"Harry." I barely whispered.
"Do you know who he is?" Rose asked out of nowhere.
"N-No. I don't. But I will." I spoke and walked out of the room.
"Clear my schedule from anything else but this case. This is going to be tough." I spoke leaving the building.
Shock was setting in.
I was supposed to kill my husband.
Kill my husband.
The man I have loved since I was 19.
Whipping my phone out of my purse, I hit Harry's name.
"Baby." He breathed.
"Want to meet for lunch? I need to see my sexy husband." I spoke.
"Of course. Tell me when and where & I will be there." I heard him smile.
I told him the time and place and then hung up.
My breathing was uneven and heavy.
I had to kill my Harry.
"Get your shit together, Ophelia." I spoke through the tears.
My heels clicked against the concrete as I walked to my car. I had to keep myself together. My normal elegant and well put together self felt like it could crack at any moment.
Driving home with tears on the brim of falling, I quickly changed into a sexy dress and fixed my makeup. Harry always loved when I wore something sexy for him.
The silence of the empty house was almost deafening.
I checked the clock, 1:30 pm.
Opening a bottle of red wine, I sipped on it, hoping to become numb. I was meeting Harry at 2:00 in our favorite restaurant. Feeling collected once again, I glanced in the mirror. My lips seemed fuller than before and my eyes greener than normal. Hopefully he wouldn't notice I was crying.
The drive to Richies Sea Food was quick... Too quick.
Walking in, I saw the man I called my husband. He walked up to me and kissed me gently on the lips.
"Every man in this room is staring at you, love." He whispered in my ear.
"But I'm the one who gets to take you home." He winked, grasping my hand in his and walking to our table.
"Where's your ring?" He questioned.
Shit.
"I had to take it off for a procedure. I must've left it in the car." I spoke quietly.
"I have a surprise for you." Harry said, reaching into his pocket.
He pulled out a small black box, "For my one and only." He whispered.
I glanced at the box. Reaching my boney fingers towards it, I grasped the box and opened it.
"Harry..." I spoke looking down at the sparkling ring.
"I thought it was time for a new wedding ring... Something bigger. Something beautiful and elegant, just like you." He spoke, taking the ring out and sliding it onto my finger.
I looked down at my hand. The ring was probably 3 times as big as the last one I had.
"I love you, baby." He smirked, kissing my hand.
I smiled, "I love you too."
Small talk was thrown about the entire meal. My head was spinning with thoughts.
Killing Harry was going to be the hardest thing I'd ever have to do.
